Weekly Wrap July 23...The Circus Is is Town

Welcome to another edition of the weekly wrap. This is how my week went down.

Some people live by the mantra " Never miss a Monday". I am not one of those people. In fact I don't think my body was meant for Monday runs. I just can't get it to do it. Even when I was training for an event, Monday's were usually my gym days, until I couldn't even bring myself to go there either..lol.  I don't know what it is, maybe it's exhaustion from the weekend. Maybe it's like how some people say they need a vacation to recover from their vacation? Yea, I'm going with something like that!

Instead, I finally committed to a paint color for my walls.  After testing 50 shades of blue on my wall Sunday, it was On Monday morning that I decided that just maybe blue wasn't my color. I just couldn't find that perfect shade I had in my mind. The room that is being painted is so large, I didn't want the color to be overwhelming and to tell you the truth, every time I looked at the blue, I thought it looked like a bathroom. Here's a tip for anyone considering painting: instead of painting sections of your wall, you can buy square panels at the paint store. Paint the panels and then hold them up to your wall, move them around the room, put them next to your windows, your trim, etc. or you could just paint a piece of poster board and do the same thing. I wish I would have known this little tip before I made my wall look like a patchwork quilt.

Tuesday morning would have been the perfect time to go for a run (because it had rained the night before and cooled things off), but again, I had to wait and let the painters in.
After that, I did some shopping for home decor and then this happened....

I went to the Circus with my Pap. This was actually a fun outing. My pap is so funny and of course he had to give a running commentary the whole time.

I got home in time to do an evening run of 3 miles. I ran at the island where some interesting things happened.

Wednesday I did more work around the house.

Thursday I walked 5 miles with a friend. We had a great time just chatting away as we ticked off the miles.

Friday the painting was finally completed so I was able to put things back together and start decorating.

I have no major commitments this coming week that I have to stay at the house for, so maybe I'll actually be able to get out for some early runs.

Did you ever have trouble picking out paint color?  Tell me a painting or decorating story.

We are linking up with Holly, Tricia, and the guest host for the weekly wrap.

  1. I love the circus! My kids are too old now but we used to go all the time. I don't run on Mondays but I do always workout on Mondays just feels good to me

  2. I also agree with you about working out on Mondays. Right now I do run on Mondays because I'm in training, but when I'm not in training it's so hard for me to workout on Mondays!

How fun that the circus was in town!

  3. Although I'm pretty artsy-fartsy, I still have trouble finding the perfect color. I'll have a specific color in my mind...and it's tough to find that exact match, especially since the perfect color looks different on each wall (due to lighting). Years ago, I chose a perfect light sage green for our downstairs hall...and it looked like a bad Easter egg when it was done. I quickly replaced it with a dark sage green, and all was well. ;-)

    1. Glad you found the right color. Yea, lighting can definitely play tricks with the colors we put on the walls.

  4. I'm usually an #alwaysmissamonday gal. I figure it is the perfect rest day after a non-stop weekends. I feel no guilt over it either! I just went through the most headache picking a paint color for an outdoor swing. If I don't like the way something turns out, I have it repainted. Bad colors are...bad colors.

    1. I am having professionals paint this time so I really wanted to make sure I got it right.

  5. Soooooo, what color did you finally choose? I'm really hoping there will be a decorating post coming soon (hint, hint).

That's a great idea about painting the wall panels to see how it looks on the window wall vs the other walls. I'll have to keep that tip in mind.

Once I painted our master bathroom a horrible shade of green. Here's a tip: never paint your master bathroom ANY shade of green.

    1. Haha, I DID paint my bathroom sage green. It didn't look bad but I found a shower curtain I absolutely loved so I repainted a tan-ish color.

I suppose I could do a decorating post in the future. I'll give you a hint. I didn't go with any of the blue and it took me all of 5 minutes to pick the wall color on Monday morning. Sometimes the best decisions are made on a whim!

  6. Blues can be difficult but believe it or not, beige is the hardest color for me to choose because the lighting can make so many of the shades have a pink tone to them. The best thing about paint is that it's so easy to change if it doesn't work out. We had new hardwood floors put down in the last house we bought and I was so afraid of how it would look once it was put down in three rooms but it turned out great. Remodeling can be stressful!!

    1. You are right about those colors. I paid someone to paint this time so I wanted to make sure I got it right.

  7. Oh, we had the hardest time with our kitchen! We did get the sample boards, but I ended up painting more and more of the wall because we just couldn't decide. I am happy with our final choice though! Oh, and I thought I wanted blue but the interior designer we hired to help us convinced us of a soft green

    1. I'm glad you were happy with your choice. The soft green sounds nice.

  8. I love color but get terrified when I have to pick something. I'm always afraid it will turn out all wrong. I usually stick to the neutrals and add color with big accessories.

  9. Add me to camp alwaysmissamonday as well. Before I was a runner I'd even skip the gym that day because it was so crowded with the people who blew off the weekend. Monday is my recovery day and I'm owning it! The circus here has been under fire for animal treatment. I wonder if it's on it's last days. Sad. There'll be lots of painting/carpet/everything else as we get our basement back together. Yes, it was fully finished with a guest room down there too. Ugh.

  10. Mondays are semi-rest days. I don't do cardio, but since strengthening is so important, I'll do my chiro exercises, and maybe some Pure Barre for a full body workout. Fridays are normally my rest days because I don't want to do anything after a full week of work.

  11. I agree...Mondays are hard. I have to force myself to workout. If I don't, it knocks off my workout schedule for the rest of the week and I can only get in one strength workout (Mondays are strength days and sometimes yoga, too). But I still don't like it.

  12. I am the strange person who likes Mondays better than Sunday.

How fun to go to the circus!!

I agree with you, blue feels more like a kitchen/ bathroom color.

  13. I am also not a Never Miss a Monday person I just do what's on my schedule; I don't see the magic of a certain day.

In fact, I'm feeling a bit rundown today, and I had planned to run, but nope, I know I need to rest more. I'm still going to do a little ST though. It's harder to get my swim on if I don't run on Mondays, but either I'll skip it or I'll get it in another day.

  14. I often have trouble finding motivation on Mondays. I usually aim to do my weekday runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless my schedule dictates needing to adjust otherwise.

  15. I have a terrible time picking out paint colors. I ask my sister to help me because she is good at that sort of thing!

  16. Ugh I so get that… I find Monday’s the hardest day to workout. Currently I have training with a group on Monday nights and the Sunday run is getting longer and harder… I just want a rest day on Monday! Ha!

Finding paint / the right colour scheme is so hard. The company I work for makes paint (amongst other things) and they have a cool app where you can test a colour directly on your wall with your iPad… I haven’t used it myself but other colleagues have – it’s really cool!

  17. Not me.I do miss Mondays esp if I race or run long on Sundays. Sometimes vacations are more tiring work.

    Circuses are so fun.

Yes picking out a color is hard. I hired a painter once and asked her to pick out the color.

    Thanks for linking up.
