May Runfessions

Wow, I think we can all agree that this month has just flown by.  It seems like I have been saying that about all the months this year so far. I think it's an age thing though. The older you get, the faster time seems to go by. What do you think?

Since it's the last Friday of the month we'll be sharing some Runfessions! Please feel free to link up any "Five" things post about your month or your running (but please make sure it's in the "5" format!

I runfess that I was a little bummed about giving up my race registration for the Pittsburgh Half Marathon this month but was pleased to know that Gretchen was able to use it instead. I really enjoyed the Frappe that Gretchen bought me as a Thank You! This was the Midnight Mint Mocha!

I runfess that even though I was the only one at the park and we were under a tornado warning, I ran anyway! It was kind of spooky (and refreshing) running through the woods with all the branches swaying back and forth.  There were major waves white capping out in the water like I have never seen before.  To be honest, I didn't realize we were under a tornado warning until I turned my ipod on to listen to the local radio station. I felt safe enough to do 2 miles though. We never did get the tornado, just a heavy storm.

I runfess that I never did sign up for that Pirate theme 5k/10k that I wanted to do (it is tomorrow).

I also runfess that I am in no shape to run a 5K (the way I want to run it), but my running buddy is running a local 5K race here next weekend and I kind of want to join him but he warned me there is a huge hill!

This last runfession comes from Lacey, and I know it's one she often feels guilty about!

I  Runfess that after my long runs I take the elevator up to my 3rd floor condo!

And just like that we end the last full week of May!!

  1. I can imagine that tornado warnings are scary (we don't get them here in CT)! Kudos to you for still going out and getting in some miles!

The last thing I want to see are stairs after a long run, so I would totally take the elevator too!

    1. Honestly I wasn't that scared because I didn't think anything was going to happen anyway!

  2. Seems like there have been a lot of tornado warnings this year everywhere. We don't get too many around here. So scary though! Yes the older you get the faster everything goes!

    1. We don't get them much here either. I thought it was just a Midwest thing!

  3. We've already had a tornado watch (a week ago), fortunately it just remained a crazy windy storm. May literally flew by (well, I guess we still a week remaining LOL)

  4. Once I was out running when the weather went bad really quickly and I ended up getting a ride home in a police car. It was either that or lay in a ditch. Thanks for linking!

  5. Oh, gosh, I would take a tornado warning serisouly! Have you seen videos of that flying debris?

    1. I didn't know our area was under a warning until I already started my run and things looked safe.

  6. LOL about the elevator!

I have run through a few thunderstorms -- you know, getting caught in the middle of a long run -- but thankfully never a tornado! I think I draw the line there. :)

I had a race like that last summer -- never signed up, ended up not doing it because of a slight IT flare. I always figure things happen for a reason.

    1. Thankfully I did not get caught in the storm. I don't even think it ended up raining.

  7. Tornado...in probably would have done the same. I have run with thunder and lightning in the distance.

I usually sign up for races in advance...it keeps me motivated.

    1. I almost always sign up in advance too. Apparently I was hesitant about this one from the get go!

  8. That frappe does sound delicious! I might have to look for one of those after a long run :)

  9. Glad someone got to use that bib.
I am such a storm chaser, I would love to be out in a park alone when the winds are blowing like that ;)

  10. I used the elevator in my last apartment building all the time. Now I don't have one in my townhouse, and have to walk up a flight of stairs. Can I confess I wait a while before doing that? I can do my recovery in the living room.

    1. Haha, sometimes you just need to rest before walking up!

  11. You know, a tornado WARNING means that one is imminent and you should take cover immediately (vs a WATCH, which means that conditions are ripe for one to develop) - having lived through some warnings, I can tell you that you should not be outside when one is happening...glad you were OK, but seriously, don't take tornado warnings lightly! #motherhen

Also, I totally take the elevator/escalator if I've done my long run that day - I feel like I earned it, LOL!

    1. Hmm, now you have me wondering if it was a tornado watch instead. We've never had a tornado in this area before. We are in a valley and I think the mountains sheiks us from a lot. There were a few trees that broke though. I will be more careful in the future.

  12. Do the race with your friend. Hill be damned! You'll be glad you did :)

  13. Mmmm Frappuccino !! I cut them out of my food for 3 weeks, I'm ready to dig right in again!!

    1. Why? I like them so much but I keep telling myself I don't need them (cus I don't..lol) so I don't get them as much as I would like.

    2. I cut them out because I was trying to not eat extra sugar, but I Love frapps and can't stay away for too long.

  14. Too funny about the elevator although I can't say that I blame her! :) Glad you were safe during your 2 mile run - sounds like fun, though!

    1. Yes it was! I love how the sky looks just before a storm!

  16. Those are scary looking clouds! I got caught out in a violent storm once on a walk with my dogs. One was so scared I had to pick him up to run home. The lightning was intense! I kept looking at my weather app but apparently delayed from real time.

    1. Oh no, I couldn't imagine running with one dog while holding the other!

  17. My "safety officer" would never let me run during a tornado warning! I'm glad you stayed safe :-) That's hilarious about the elevator.

    1. I really don't think there was any immediate danger during the time I was out there.

  18. You are brave to run in those conditions! High winds really freak me out. I know what you mean about age and time moving at the speed of light. I hate the feeling :-( Happy Friday!

  19. I think I'd be too nervous to run during a tornado warning! I so agree with you about feeling like time is moving faster, especially as I get older. Wish there was a way to make it all slow down a little.

  20. Do you feel like those weather warnings are way too dramatic? Seriously. They're like the boy who cried wolf.

  22. Crazy girl! Tornados freak me out, but I grew up in the Midwest where everyone had a basement because of them...

    1. Yea, I thought tornados were more of a Midwest thing. We are more likely to experience a flood here rather than a tornado.

  23. Run that 5k and attack that hill, you may just surprise yourself! After all, time does pass too quickly these days. Seize the moment :)

  24. I grew up with tornado warnings and lived in the midst of a ton of trees, so they were always so scary! And know that Gretchen enjoyed her race so much!

  25. Funny about the elevator! Just like the way I look for a close parking space after doing a long run!
