Weekly Wrap .....Jan 15

This week should have been the first full week back to work since the holidays and I was looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, but that didn't quite happen.

Remember I ended up getting sick last weekend? Well, Monday I only worked a half day and then came home sick. It was nice to be at my own house for the rest of the afternoon.

Tuesday, was glorious because they left us all out early again because the weather was calling for sleet. This allowed me to come home for yet another afternoon and get some much needed house work done.

Wednesday work was cancelled altogether due to an ice storm. I got up at my normal time though and thought about all the stuff I could accomplish while I was home all day.
Our walk way was covered in a sheet of ice.

Due to the ice, running outside was out of the question as was really driving anywhere. I was even nervous for Baylee to go outside.  She started to slip once, so I limited her time outside and I even walked with her as she went to the yard to do her business. I didn't want my old girl breaking a hip!  I stayed inside and ended up doing a total of 15 miles on the Nordic Track bike this day.

What a change Thursday brought. It was nearing 60 degrees and I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt for my 6 mile run. This run was certainly without incident so I'll be sharing more about it this week.

The rest of the weekend I stayed in doors and worked on a house project. I know my 6 mile run and my 15 mile bike ride isn't going to cut it for the week so I am hoping to get some treadmill miles in today.

*Edit: I did get 5 treadmill miles in. It ended up being a beautifully warm day anyway, so I guess I should have ran outside but I was just being lazy.

When you have off work, do you like to relax or do you like to use the extra time to catch up on chores and things? -M

Thank you to Holly and Tricia for hosting the Weekly Wrap!

  1. What a nice week for you! Well, other than being sick. If we have 1 snow day I use it to relax, if there is more than 1 than I will make sure to get some stuff done around the house otherwise I get stir crazy!

    1. I suppose if I had more than one snow day in a row I would feel I could relax during the second day if I got some work done the first day.

    1. We also have in service for MLK. The students have off this Monday and Next Monday. They have off a lot of days that we teachers have to go. I always say it must be nice to be a student at my school. They get lots of little breaks!

  4. Wow! From ice to 60 in 24 hours. That's crazy! We get extremes but not like that. Altho they are calling for 50 later this week. It's so weird.

    1. Yea, that really was extreme but I don't mind. It's nice to mix things up and nice that it doesn't stay cold and icy for too long.

  5. Talk about catching up on chores! I just took my Christmas decorations down today. LOL. I've never thought about dogs going outside in the ice (rare here) but I certainly wouldn't want one of mine slipping on it either. My Mojo has a bad shoulder anyway. You sure did have the weather extreme this week. It's very warm here. Thanks for linking, Meranda!

  7. The change in weather was so crazy! Great that you were able to work on a house project and house work. I am bad with doing nothing on days off so need to get house work done on my days off this week!

  8. W're currently awaiting an ice storm (we've been warned about it since last Friday)...but so far nothing. Not sure what's gonna happen overnight LOL But, it's supposed to be in the 40's by Wednesday (I think) and nice for the rest of the week. Crazy!!! (And if I get an afternoon off, I seldom ever just relax...I usually have blogging stuff to get caught up on....or laundry...)

  9. I swear the weather has been nuts this season! Ice = no bueno. I'm glad you didn't venture out in it. I like to think I'll lay low and relax at home but that rarely ever happens.

  10. I hope you're feeling better, and hopefully the extra time allowed for you to rest and recover from your illness. When I have extra time off I "try" to get as much done as possible. It's such a fantastic bonus!

  11. I was off all of Christmas break with my kids (I teach classs at our local gym) and managed to get everything caught up at home. Now that school is back in and I'm training and back at work, I'm behind again! Lol! I hope you continue to feel better and have a great week!

  12. The weather has been menopausal here too! Ice one week ago and 70s now...just crazy. When I have down time ...I usually think about, and may even make a list, of all the things that I can do ...then end up watching TV, napping or reading a book. Hahaha! I seem to get more accomplished during "crunch time" ...go figure :)

    Hope you're feeling better Lacey!

  13. Good question for today. I slept in, and I found a repeat of Andy Murray's match at the Australian Open. I normally see a holiday as a day to chill, and maybe do a chore if I didn't get to it over the weekend. It's snowing outside, which makes me want to hunker down with some hot chocolate and stay in my PJs all day.

  14. It's a wonder more people are not sick from the drastic change in weather conditions. We dealt with very cold temps last weekend and in the 70's middle of the week! I don't care which but wish it would even out and stay more consistent!

  15. what an icy and warm week you had!

My dog used to get the salt rocks stuck on her paws, we had to wipe her paws before coming inside, or they would blister her feet. Your story on Baylee slipping on the ice made me think of that.

  16. I usually try to catch up on blogging. LOL. We got let out early today because the Internet was down in the office. :-)

All that ice is so scary! :-(
