Weekly Wrap...September 11 already.

Oh gosh, it seems like the month of September just started and already it is going by so quickly! I am continuing to train for my half marathon in November and am looking forward to another 5K this Saturday.

I've increased my "long" runs to 6.2 Miles now! Yay!  My long runs are done on Fridays (for now), so since I did not work last Friday I got up with the intentions of doing my 6.2 miles. My mom came to the trail with me so she could get in a walk and then we planned to ride our bikes on the trail.

Long story short, I miscalculated where the turn around point was (because I didn't start at the beginning of the trail) and only ended up doing 4 miles. I was going to turn around and finish the last 2 miles but I saw my mom was already finished with her walk so I decided to call it quits and hop on the bike instead.  Turns out we did 16 miles on the bike!!!!  Needless to say my behind was sore!

So I think 4 miles running and 16 miles on bike was enough to warrant some beach time!  So that's what we did. The hot sand on my feet felt fabulous!

No work again on Monday so I was back to the trail and really did do a long run of 6.2 miles. I felt good but when I went home to log my run I noticed that I did this exact same distance (on the exact same trail) this time last year. Last year I was 2 minutes faster AND the weather that day was 20 degrees warmer!!!!  What is going on with me?????

Tuesday and Wednesday were work days. I have to say I have the best principals ever. After work on Tuesday we had a meeting and the principals had an ice cream truck outside for all the teachers!

Thursday I swam with Baylee. She had another little lab friend over to swim.

Friday I got myself back to the gym!  Afterwards I did a 2 mile run through town.

Saturday I did 4 miles through the park and it was so hot and so humid! I tell ya even after only 4 miles, I was exhausted. All I wanted to do was take a nap but I had to go home and getting ready for a wedding later that day.

Sunday Scott, I and Baylee were up bright and early to go spectate at our town's half marathon.  So you are probably wondering why I didn't participate?  Well, the name of the race is actually The HILLY Half.  So does that explain it?  We wanted to go support Baylee's Veterinarian.  It was her very first half and I know she was worried about it. It was nice cheering on some other runner friends too. Every time I would clap Baylee would get so excited so I had to cut that down to a minimum.
This is Baylee and her vet. She is one of our favorite people for obvious reasons!  Check out her hat. It says "Dog is good".

What did you do this past week? Did you have off Monday?  -M

We are linking up with Holly and Tricia for the weekly wrap!

  1. Great wrap! I hate when I miscalculate runs, but sounds like you had a great time with your mom. How great that you went to spectate and support you local half. I really need to do a better job of supporting or volunteering at the races I don't run. Your vet seems awesome and hopefully she had a great time at her first half!

  4. You were trucking this week! Did you go to the beach we were at? Baylee is so cute and her vet looks like a nice person. I mean, who doesn't trust someone with a hat like that!? I went to Harrisburg's Half today to cheer on my bro. So cute that Baylee has swim dates with other dogs. She's a lucky pup. :) Your principals sound awesome!! Unfortunately, our principal is a very difficult person to work with and he is not liked by our staff at ALL.

    1. O man, that has to be hard when your principals are tough to work with. I'm sorry about that. Yes, Baylee's vet means so much to us. Hope you had fun watching your brother race!

  5. I'm always sore after getting back to the bike. I was hot and cold with spin while I had a gym membership, and whenever I started up again, I was sore by the end of class.

  6. I'm a huge advocate for cheering on the runners at races, especially if you're not running yourself. Paying it forward ;-) I had Monday off as well, and was able to get out for a nice 3-miler without having to rush back home for work...isn't that grand!

    1. Yes, I loved having that time to do a morning run before it got so hot!

  7. I'm glad to hear things are going well with your running! Do you wear padded cycling shorts? They sure do help. I don't think we can compare runs because sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for the difference in pace and it can drive you nuts. How cute Baylee spectated at the vet's half. You've got a very cool principal to bring in an ice cream truck! Thanks for linking, Meranda!

  10. I didn't have Monday off, it is not a holiday in France. It was a 5 day workweek here with no travel. That seems so long to me ! But school is back in session for my kids so I am happy to get back into my routine.

  11. I am glad things are going well with running. I wouldn't worry about the time as much I feel like we all have our good day and bad days. Just keep on chugging along :)

  14. Aww... that's great that you went out to support Baylee's vet! And I would say the beach time was well deserved :)

  15. Girl I wouldn't have run that race either! LOL It's cool you were able to get out there and support your vet, though. 20 miles definitely warrants beach time!

  16. I looked up the Hilly half... because you know... FOMO... and I saw that it ends in The Country Cupboard!! I LOVE the Country cupboard!! I'm putting this race on my list, just because it ends at country cupboard! Does that mean you live close to there? (you don't have to answer that) have you been to the Purple Cow?

    1. I love the country cupboard too! And yes, I live real close! I have know of the purple cow and I believe it is along the trail I run but I have never stopped there. Next time you come to country cupboard let me know!

  18. Saturday really was brutal! I seriously don't know how I managed to finish my run without passing out. At least it's cooler now -- finally! If leaves are gonna fall, it should be cool, right?

That's a great photo of Baylee with your vet.

  19. Haha, no way would I ever sign up for a race with HILLY in the name! Good call on just spectating that one...but I love that you went out for your vet, and how much she means to you and Baylee. :)

I stopped riding my bike - my butt always hurt!! I think I'll stick to running.

So jealous of your day at t he beach!!

  23. My Jake would love to swim with Baylee! They would have so much fun! Jake loves the water so much! I wouldn't run The Hilly Half either! LOL We have a hometown 5K and a 10K and the slogan for them both is "One Hill of a Race"! I don't like running either of them!

  24. I have to agree 4 miles running and 16 on the bike so warrants beach time!
Aww I think Baylee really does like her vet! I was glad to have Monday off, so much that I took Tuesday too. Ok I was traveling home so not much in the way of play.
I think I'd be with you on the sidelines instead of running the Hilly Half! My oh my!
