What has this Summer brought?

We can't officially say good-by to Summer until after Labor day but we thought we would reflect back on how the summer of 2015 treated us.

1. I think I speak for both of us when I say this summer has brought some major life changes for each of us. Some we've talked about on the blog but some we haven't.  Some of the things have been struggles and some are exciting things we have to look forward too. I for one, have realized that running is no longer my top priority and have even decided to not run some races I have already registered for. Such is life.

I have this sign in my house that says "Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole".  I got to thinking that running  has kind of been like that for me.  As much as I love running and racing ( and I do like the races), it is not my whole life, but it definitely has enhanced my life. -M

2. I've kept up with my fitness this summer by doing several virtual races that were sponsored by Gone For a Run. The last run I'll be doing this summer is the Sole Sister Seven Miler.
I plan to do this run with my sister. I continue to be impressed with the swag from Gone For A Run. In addition to the shirt (we actually got tank tops) and cool medal, we got a cute shoe charm! -L

3. In addition to my Florida trip and my cruise, we both enjoyed family day trips to the zoo and safari and lots of bike rides. I got to see Maroon 5 in concerts which was fun but I've determined that I'm too old for the concert thing!  I've also got to connect with some old friends and meet some new blogger friends. -M

4. I've been pretty busy at the gym this summer. Not only have I been taking classes but I've ben teaching to. I 've been teaching group fitness classes and doing personal training. -L

5. So now the thing that I always look forward to during the summer: Rock n Roll Virginia Beach!  For the last several years this has always signified the end of summer for us. This year "Bad Ass" will be running with me. It will be his first half marathon! -L

  5. I really do want to do a Gone for a Run virtual race. I think a virtual race would really take some of the pressure I feel in races off me & make it more enjoyable.

  6. Sounds like you have had a really busy summer! I love doing virtual races. I have the skirt sports virtual on my calendar in a few weeks.

  7. I'm with you on where running has fallen in my life. I'm not as gung ho to run all the races as I had been in the past.

  8. I can't wait to hear all about Virginia Beach! I'm jelly you will be treated to Cheryl Crow afterwards! Have fun :)

  9. Sometimes its good to get life in a better perspective :) Glad running is still PART of your life but that its not pushing you to levels where you would be in pain or hurt.

  10. Rock and Roll races have not come to France yet, but they are slowly making their way through Europe.
I think we all have our moments with exercise. I loved yoga, stopped for 3 years and am now ready to go back. I think that is a very normal part of life.

  11. I think as runners we all go through that phase where running isn't a priority anymore. That was me last year and the beginning of the year. Good luck in your next race. Virginia Beach is on my bucket list...mostly because I would make a vacation out of it.

  13. There are so many priorities in our lives--and we have to prioritize even them. And it is ok for them to be reordered--sometimes they need to take a chillpill. Riding will always be a part of who I am, as will yoga, but I am focusing on other things right now!

  15. Sounds like a good summer. That is some awesome swag, especially for a virtual race. Have a great time at RnR VaBeach. I have some friends heading down for that this year. Always looks so good.

  16. I am headed out to run my Sole Sister 7 miles in an hour or so! The RnR sounds like a great way to end the summer- good luck!

  17. How fun that you got tank tops! My sister and I went to a John Mayer concert a few years ago, and I'm sure we felt similarly to how you felt. So many teeny boppers! It did make us laugh though because they were going on and on about some of his songs, and we were pretty sure they didn't really get them the way they were intended ;-) Sounds like you guys had an awesome summer!

  18. The virtual race sounds like a lot of fun! I need to check that out. I appreciated your comments about running being an important part of our lives but not the most important part.

  19. I never do a ton of races, so I think running has never taken over my life. Altho marathon training makes it feel that way! I've got a few bucket list races still, but I won't do many more marathons.

  20. Have a great time at VB. I really enjoyed it last year.

  21. Love the sign! A marroon 5 concert would be awesome, but then I think Adam is so hot so that is probably why lol.
I am not ready for summer to end; I am hoping for an indian summer so I can camp through October :)

  22. I know a lot of people recently that have made the change from running being their life, to now just being a part of their life and they are a lot happier for it. I hope the change makes you happy too :)

  23. Nice, I guess it's time to make some resolutions though

  24. I can't believe summer is coming to an end! There's nothing wrong with reassessing our priorities every now and then; sometimes I feel like running has consumed my whole life, and it wouldn't hurt me to take a step back once in awhile! I *love* your dog sign, BTW! Also, I am TOTALLY feeling "too old" for concerts these days...I just don't have the tolerance I once did for having hundreds of people basically standing right on top of you. (Jeez, I sound old right now, LOL)
