The Runner gun

A few months ago when all of this quarantine started and places were not open it seemed like the only things that were open were the trails. So, I decided to take advantage of those and began running much more than I ever have.  It is no surprise the more you run, the more it takes a toll on your body and you begin to feel sore, tired, or even just run down. They say recovery is just as important as your workout (whoever they are) but I know I lack in that department as many of us probably do, whether it is not drinking enough water, using a foam roller, stretching,  etc.

The one thing I used to really enjoy after races, or even just running a lot of miles was a massage. Unfortunately we know that those places haven’t been open in what seems like forever and will probably be one of the last places to reopen, which brings me to my new purchase. The Runner Gun!

I wanted something reasonable priced because I have seen some that were several hundred dollars. It was actually an advertisement that popped up (Does anyone else seem to get advertisements of things you are currently searching for? I swear our smartphones are really smart). I visited their website that said founded in Columbus, OH and read several positive reviews so I decided purchase it.  After purchasing the product I got a confirmation that the product was purchased and that I would receive another email when the shipment goes out and to please allow up to 3 weeks for your shipment. What?

Why is it taking three weeks coming from Ohio? I thought maybe they were just backed up like most companies were due to  the Pandemic. So I just waited, and I waited. Finally after three weeks I reached out to the company and asked why I have not received any shipment information. They responded promptly and with the shipment tracking. When I looked up the tracking, I realized now why it was taking so long. It was coming from China!

Fast forward a few more weeks and I finally got it! I was like a kid on Christmas opening my new toy. When you open it up, it almost looks like a power tool in its case with 4 different attachments along with the charging cord.  It is nice that you get a variety of attachments you can interchange depending on what type of massage you are looking for or what body parts you want to massage. first plugged it in to charge.  However, you do not have to wait until it is fully charged to use it and you can even use it while it’s charging. There is a digital number to let you know how charged it is. You can also set the intensity on it as well, another digital number. The higher the number goes the faster and deeper the intensity gets. I have it on one of the lowest settings and I think that is pretty deep.  It is very quiet as well, which was another thing I was worried about. I was afraid that it was going to sound like a vacuum and wouldn’t be able to hear the television in the evenings while using it, but no worries there!

Even though I waited what felt like an eternity to receive the product, so far I have been very happy with my purchase and have been using it everyday day. I think my foam roller will be taking a back seat to this gun. #sorrynotsorry

I know there are so many variations of this gun out there, have you tried something similar? If so, what are your thoughts? If not, how do  you like to recover?   -L

  5. I tried one at a fitness expo & fell in love! But it was expensive. I’ve definitely had trouble with shipping from China, & I try to avoid ordering anything from there but it seems like everything is from there! Glad it finally arrived!

  7. It IS scary that our smartphones seem to be able to read our minds. I have never heard of a runner gun before but it looks cool! I have been lots of trail miles too. I have been getting some emails from actual trail races that are happening this month and next. They are still pretty far away from me and they are small but it's a start!

  8. I've used a Theragun at my gym an really loved it. But the cost has kept me from buying one...so far. It's nice when something really helps with aches and pains.
