Weekly Wrap...September 23

Happy Fall Ya'll!  We spent our first day of fall just as one should, closing our swimming pool and decorating our home for fall.  Other than that, there really is no signs of fall yet as the leaves have not started to change yet.

I'm pretty proud of us for all the things we accomplished so early in the season. We usually don't do the pool closing till closer to October and sometimes not until well into October. I always want to extend Baylee's swimming season as long as I can. I guess this proves that I am indeed ready for fall.

I'm ready for cozy nights on the couch and wearing leggings. I've never really had that "Fall" itch before as I just LOVE summer, but I think I have it this year. But I'm sure I'll be ready for summer again by February!

This week I started running some of the route where I think part of the 5k race will go through on Friday night.  Besides the fact that this is not a flat course, and it is at night, I decided that I'm not "racing" this race.  I know this sounds lazy and I can't believe I'm even saying this, but I don't really care to put that much effort into it. I just want to run it for fun. I feel like earning a 3rd place medal at the Harvest 5K earlier this month was already a great accomplishment for fall so I don't feel the need to try to place in another race. Is that lazy?

I think this race is really just a big party anyway. It's suppose to be a glow race with an after party at one of my favorite taverns in town.  We are suppose to wear bright colors but all my fluorescent colored tops are long sleeves and it's definitely not time for running it that yet, not even at night. So,I'm not even sure what I want to wear.

Lacey is continuing to train for her fall races ( 13.1 and 50 miles).  She found a nice trail during her layover in Denver this week and had enough time to knock out 11 miles!

And that's pretty much a wrap for us this week. Nothing too exciting.

Thanks to Wendy and Holly for letting us share our week with them.

  1. I'm feeling the same way as you about fall this year! But I know I'll miss summer when it's freezing cold. Your 5k sounds like it will be fun! And I'm glad Lacey found a trail in Denver- was in downtown or closer to the airport?

    1. It was probably 20 mins away from airport. Not downtown.

  3. I'm definitely ready for fall, but it's not feeling like fall at all where we live. We are still in summer mode, flip flops, shorts, swimming pools, etc. The 5K sounds like a fun race!

  4. I have mixed feelings about the arrival of fall because, winter. But it is nice to have some cooler temps and the windows open!

  5. My pool is still open. I think the water is still over 90 degrees during the day. But, we never officially close it either. I love your different colored mums. Nothing says fall better than those. I have already bought one that is simply roasting on my front porch. Good luck and have fun at the 5k! Thanks for linking.

  6. I'll be doing the Thanksgiving 5k just for fun. Training for Princess starts in December, and this 5k will give me something to stay active for and then start up training again a couple weeks later.

  7. I don't a tall think running the race for fun is lazy! And who cares what anyone else thinks anyway?

If I had a pool I'd keep it open as long as the weather was swimmable! I've never had a dog that like water but I think it would be cool to swim with my dog.

  8. I was thankful for the much cooler temps for my long run today...but I still want summer to stick around for a bit. I don't mind the cool temps in the evenings (#leggings LOL), but not during the day ;-)

  10. It's not lazy - sometimes fun runs are needed. Love the mums

  11. I don't think it's lazy at all - I think it's good to throw in a few fun runs here and there, just to take a breather from more competitive running :-)

  12. I don't think that's lazy, I think it's fine! But then I'm a bit allergic to racing races myself! We have the leaves changing now although the photo I took for my blog kind of massively epically failed to show that!

  13. I never look forward to Fall, I enjoy Summer too much and Fall's always a reminder of Winter on the horizon. Spring on the other hand, I always get excited about signs of Spring :)

  14. I definitely have "lazy" races occasionally. I think it makes sense to think of it as a big party!

  15. Glow runs are so cool!! Do you have a reflective vest? I find that reflective vest are the most awesome things to wear to glow runs, and lots of glow in the dark things. Have a fun race!

  16. I am so ready for fall! And, nothing wrong with just running a race for fun - I think it's great to have some races that aren't so goal oriented.

  17. That is such a cute picture of you, Meranda! And hey - there is nothing wrong with enjoying a race...as I always tell my running buddies when we're in the starting corral, "this isn't a race" - LOL.

  20. I've been holding off on fall decor but now that it's cooled off and fall is "official" it's full steam ahead. I'm always sad when the pool has to close.

  21. I'm going to savor fall as much as I can! October is the best month- fall marathons (like the Twin Cities Marathon), my birthday, our wedding anniversary, a trip to Norway. the BEST running weather...it's just my favorite but I have a feeling it will fly by.

Your mums look great! Another reason to love fall :) Great job this week!

  22. There's nothing wrong with running a race "just for fun" - enjoy! In fact, if all races were push-as-hard-as-I-can it might take some of the fun out of our sport.

  23. Not lazy at all! You're getting out there and running which is more than the average person would do anyway! Have fun with the race! :) The plants look great, too by the way!! :)
