Plans for Fall

Since tomorrow is "officially" the first day of fall, we thought it was time to get our fall plans down in writing!

It actually happened last weekend, but the Harvest Festival 5K was the first "Fall" race for both of us. I guess we can already check that one off the list!

I actually earned a free entry into any race in our local series (The same race series that puts on the Monumental Mile and Running of the Elves), so I chose a new to me race  The Lewisburg Lights 5K. This is a night time race so I'm sort of excited because I have not ran a night race since Rock n Roll Las Vegas a few years back.  -M

I'm doing my first 50 miler race! I've done this race before as a relay but this year my best running buddy and I decided we would run the entire 50 miles by ourselves! -L

The third fall race I'm scheduled for this year is a Halloween race that I'll be running with my mom. This is also a night time race and it sounds like it's going to be a big costume party so I guess I better start working on a race outfit!  -M

As if running a 50 miler is't enough, I'm also RUNNING VEGAS this year!  I ran the full marathon back in 2014 and I have to say it was rather boring, dark, and little crowd support. My mom and sister ran the half marathon and had much more fun. I have a friend that recently started running and she asked me to run the half with her and I said yes! -L

Those are just the races we are registered for so far but we do have some fun fall things planned  as well like a corn maze, some work outings, and some mini getaways for fall!

What fall race are you looking forwards to?

  2. 50 miles. Wow. The mind boggles. The Vegas half is a ton of fun!

I have a half next weekend, and I'd really like some fall weather for it please. And the end of Oct I'm going to the AMR Running retreat with a friend (who I've barely seen this summer even though she's local) & that includes the Cape Cod Half. There will, of course, be some local races too.

  9. Vegas was so much fun. I'm working on convincing my cousin to do it next year so we have plenty of time to plan. I did spring for a Thanksgiving theme 5k the weekend before this year. It's very local and packet pickup is easy. Two wins for them.

  12. You guys have such fun and interesting races planned! For the 50 miler Lacey, do you plan on running with your buddy for the entire time?

My big fall race got moved to February, so the only fall race I'll be doing is our local Turkey Trot.

  13. Are you running Tussey? I'd love to hear about how you are training for it. Like what trails you run and what long run distances you run. I did the Bull Run 50 Miler several years ago and it was a great experience! We did a ton of weekend where we would do like 20 on the trail on a Sat and then 12 on sun.

    1. It is Tussey. The most I did was 21 and I was pretty slow the next two days and didn't run( I should have though). So We will see how it goes. I think I am done running long until the race now. I have been at least getting s double digit run it once or twice a week for awhile.

  15. Sounds like a fun line-up! The Vegas 13.1 was a lot of fun, but I had heard the 26.2 went through some seedy parts of town. Have fun!

    1. Yes. I don't think I could do it myself. Nor would I want to.
