July Runfessions!

I do NOT want to say good bye to July! Can't it stay July all year long? I really won't even complain about the heat, promise!

But as it goes, I guess all good things must come to an end.

On to the Runfessions.....

1. Last month I Runfessed that I was becoming increasingly more frightened of groundhogs because I would see them often on my runs. Well ya know what,  I now Runfess that I haven't encountered anymore since I wrote that.

2. BUT this month I will Runfess that I am now frightened of seeing a bear on my island. In the back of my mind I was always frightened of that but really didn't think it would happen. But now last week during an evening run I was talking to a walker who informed me that she saw a bear in this area last year during a walk (she brought it up. I didn't ask). I wish she wouldn't have told me that because now I know it is a possibility.

3. I Runfess that I've been cheating on running with decorating. More on that later.

4. I Runfess that even though I hadn't been running as much as I though, I was still keeping a consistent schedule. I downloaded my Garmin stats last night and I see that I've actually been sticking to a Tuesday, Thursday schedule and there have also been a few weeks where I threw in an extra day. I'm  okay with that.

5. I Runfess that I officially have a fall race-cation on the calendar. More on that later.

  1. I'd investigate that whole bear theory. No sense in giving up a good running path for what might be a rumor!

    1. I'm not sure why she would make something like that up.

  2. Yay for a racecation! Can't wait to hear more about that. A bear would be terrifying. Although they say the black ones aren't bad. I'd be running like a bat outta hell though.

    1. We had a black bear run through my parents yard last year and we all thought it was a Newfoundland dog...lol

    1. All the dogs i've encountered so far have been leashed so that doesn't bother me!

  5. I finally remembered to write runfessions! Yay!

Are you sure that bear is real? There was one by where I run in NJ at my brother's place recently... but not close enough to stay away from my route.

Looking forward to hearing about your racecation.

    1. I would guess the bear is real. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't be. My dad saw one about 2 miles from there a few summers ago.

  7. We don't have bears around here but I see so many deer while out on my runs and bike rides. They come out of nowhere and they are big!

  13. Yikes on the bear! I've been scared about that too since there was an incident with a bear wandering around our town last year. It seems pretty rare though so fingers crossed. I look forward to hearing about the racecation :)

  14. Can't wait to hear what the runcation is. Regarding the bear, they're normally more scared of you than you are of them. Most of the time they're looking for food and don't want to come across humans.

    1. I thought the same thing. I thought Deer would be afraid of people too until I almost got attacked running by one!

  15. This may be a silly question, but how does a bear get to the island???

  18. I don't think I've ever seen a groundhog. I'd be terrified of a bear though!

  19. A bear sighting would definitely give me pause. It evidently bother the walker as she was still out walking... I can't wait to hear which race you are running!

  20. That's not runfessing, that's teasing!

There was a bear sighting in the neighborhood where we had a group run last year. You know the saying, you only have to run faster than the person ahead of you. . . only I'm at the back of the group . . .

  21. I'd be terrified about a bear! What is up with all these teasers!! :-)

  22. Such a tease! Leaving us with all of those ..."more on that later" :)

Groundhogs, bears and critters ...oh my!! Seriously though, I'd be terrified of a dang bear!!

July is a fun month, isn't it??

  23. Oh man, encountering a bear while on a walk or run would be so scary!

I wonder where your fall racecation will be?? Sounds fun!

  24. Sounds like you've got some exciting things to tell us - decorating and race-cation (hello!). Can't wait to hear more about that. :) I'd wish she hadn't told me about a bear sighting, either. LOL Hopefully, there will be no sightings for you.

  25. Oh, I think ground hogs are cute! I have a weakness for little furry critters ;-) I'm eager to hear about your decorating!!

  26. Since I run on trails in Montana I kinda assume I will see a bear sooner or later (and I carry bear spray)...I just hope it isn't a grizzly.

  27. I want to hear more about the decorating - did you find a paint color? And, yay for a race-cation!
