I shouldn't have been bragging...

You may  have seen  my post the other week on Instagram about finding the deal of the year.

I went shopping on a layover
and I found a pair of Brooks Launch sneakers (the kind I have been wearing for years) on clearance for $8.50.  Since I was on a trip for work, I really didn't have the extra room in my luggage, but at $8.50, how could I pass that up!  I had to buy them!

Of course I bought them on day one of a four day trip. So for four days I carried around the box of shoes in the bag. I told every crew member I came in counter with those days about my great deal I couldn’t pass up and that is why I was carrying an extra bag with me. Well I think I jinxed myself for doing that.
The last night I had to fly from Denver-Orange County back to Denver and then a red eye to Philadelphia. So my van time that day was 3:30 pm Mountain time and I didn’t get home until 6:30 am East Coast time the following morning. Needless to say I was quite tired after I finished my trip.

So here I am still with my luggage along with my Dicks Sporting Goods bag (well so I thought).  I get off the shuttle and the following day I drive to Virginia Beach for the weekend.  After my Virginia Beach trip I am repacking my car to get ready for my next work trip and I realize my shoes are nowhere to be found. How is this possible? I know I did not wear those shoes at all during the weekend because I had my other pair. Why would I even take them out of the car? I still reached out to both my friends I stayed with while I was there, in hopes maybe I did take them out for some reason, but no luck.

I even went back to the employee lot where the bus picks us up to see if someone found them and placed them in lost and found, but nothing.  It’s been a few weeks now and they have not turned up so I must have not picked them up at some point along the way and are long gone now. Those darn red eyes!

I am still bummed about those shoes but I think the only saving grace is only spending $8.50 on them. Still, it’s just the principle. So of course I had to go out and buy another pair that was surely not $8.50 but at least they were still on sale.

Have you ever got a great deal but then did not have anything to show for it?  -L

  1. What you said at the end was exactly what I was thinking -- it's a bummer, but at least it was only $8.50.

I once bought a glass heart necklace in Vegas. I left it there, too. When I called the hotel, of course it was not found. And that was a lot more than $8.50.

OTOH, I once left one sneaker (I don't think it was running shoes, I don't think I'd started to run yet) in a hotel room. They found it & mailed it to me!

Lately I am constantly leaving things at my mom's apartment, and yesterday was no different. Thankfully they are not usually something super important, and of course, I'll be going back. Soon.

    1. Wow! That's great that they mailed the shoe back. Luckily I haven't left any items at a hotel which is surprising considering all the traveling I do.

  3. That's such a bummer! I've definitely lost things that I've gotten bargains on. I left my fave Prana jacket from Sierra Trading Post in a taxi and have never found one I liked as much! I hope they turn up!

  4. Oh man that does stink. It always seems to be things you can't find again that you lose.

  6. That was an amazing deal! But you're right, at least you didn't spend a lot on them to lose them. Hopefully they still show up.

  7. Thank you for stopping by my blog and for your kind, understanding comments about how difficult it was for me to let go when my daughter got married. I think it's wonderful that you have a similar close relationship with your mom.

That's such a bummer about your shoes! I'm glad you hadn't spent a couple hundred dollars on them. Maybe they were found by a homeless person who was in desperate need for a pair of shoes. There's comfort in that thought.
