Weekly Wrap...September 16

How is it the middle of September already?  It still feels like summer though (we just had Baylee swimming this afternoon).

We both have a pretty fun schedule of events coming up this fall so I imagine the next two months are going to go pretty fast too!

This week started off pretty rainy (which has been the theme for the East Coast this week).  Monday was the last day to register for that race on the Island I wanted to do.  Because of all the rain we got, I decided that I wasn't going to sign up because there would be no way the island would be dry enough to run on. I was right too. They had the island closed most of the week due to flooding. We went down today just to walk around and a lot of the paths were washed away and it just looks rather mucky. My poor island!  The race is schedule for this coming Saturday and I'm anxious to see if it goes on.

I did my runs in town and on the treadmill this week and actually enjoyed each one.  My running route was decorated with Scarecrows this week.

Look at all that fog over the river.

A lot of this week was spent watching the Weather Channel.  Our rivers got so high here that some of our roads were closed and I honestly did not know if we would have our race and Harvest Festival this weekend.  The water had gone down by the end of the week and everything went on as scheduled this weekend.

Saturday was a really fun day. My sister and I ran the annual Harvest 5K  race and than got to spend some time at the festival afterwards.  We went back into town later to watch the parade and then headed to a birthday party for my dad and aunt for the rest of the evening.

And that's pretty much a wrap!  I look forward to sharing more about the 5K race this week and hopefully sharing some things that will be on our fall schedule.  -M

Thanks to Wendy and Holly for letting us share our week with them

    1. Some roads were closed but I don't think it really caused any damage this time (at least not in my immediate area).

  3. I hope you weren't hit by the flooding. This time of year always seems to affect someone I know. Last year it was my family in Houston.

    1. Yes, I'm glad that the river didn't get any higher. Our race runs down the street that is closest to the river too!

  6. Oh, I am not ready for Scarecrows yet, but I guess it is that time of year. Can't wait to hear more about your 5k!

    1. The town puts the scarecrows up every year for the Harvest festival. They usually have an entire patch of them out but for some reason they didn't this year.

  8. Sorry about the flooding and glad things went down again. I'm struggling to think if I've EVER seen a scarecrow while I've been out running. We must have them, but I don't really run near any farms!

    1. This route isn't near any farms. The scarecrows are out just for decoration for the festival!

  10. Florence must be a total PIA for race directors not to mention everyone else! Glad you two got to race anyway! I kind of want to get my pumpkins/decor going but its still so hot here I think I'll wait another week or 2.

  11. Oh no that sucks about the flooding! I've heard that some places along the East Coast dealt with a lot of flooding. Hopefully th'ere no more rain in the forecast for this week.

  14. Yikes, so sorry about the flooding! Flo needs to go. It's lovely how the race still went on, though, and cute scarecrow!!

  15. That's a pretty picture of the river but I'm glad to hear that the water levels went down in time for the festival!

  16. You're both smiling so I'm guessing the race was fun! Luckily we live on top of a hill -- almost always have, oddly enough -- so no worries on the flooding front.

The park I ran at yesterday was closed because of a Harvest Festival. But I got there at 8 & the festival didn't start until noon. And when I left, the main entrance was open again. Whatever, at least the park wasn't actually closed!

    1. My house is on a hill too so even if the town floods our house will be dry! (But I hope the town does not flood)

  17. The river looks pretty high in that picture. I'm glad there was no serious flooding in your town and you were able to enjoy the race and festival with your sister. Thanks for linking!

  18. I can't believe it's time for Harvest races already :) So fun you got to run with your sister. Love that pic of the fog over the river. very cool!

  19. Yes, how is it past the halfway point of September???? Crazy that October is almost here...it's bad enough the days are getting so short ;-(

  20. I'm sorry to hear about the flooding! Florence has been pretty devastating to parts of the east coast. Remnants that are shooting up through Virginia caused like 9 tornados near Richmond yesterday! This has been absolutely crazy and who knows how long it's going to take for everything to get back to some form of normal? Glad your race went off without a hitch this weekend!

  21. Glad the water levels have gone down! I hope the flooding wasn't too bad there, it sounds awful further up the coast.

  22. The rain has been absolutely awful, I feel for everyone who has been dealing with flooding and hurricane damage. Congrats on you two for your race! Looking forward to the recap!
