The Plaza Restaurant at Disney: A Charming experience

The Plaza restaurant, on the corner of Main Street USA, was the last of the table service restaurants we needed to try in order to knock them all off our list!  You can see our complete list of blog posts HERE.

The Plaza restaurant is on the right hand side of Main Street USA, and you might not have even noticed it was there. The store front that you see from Main Street is actually the Plaza Ice Cream Shop.

If you walk around the corner ( near where all the yellow umbrellas are), you will notice that there is an entrance to The Plaza restaurant.  If you keep walking pass the plaza, you will be on your way to Tomorrowland Terrace.

This sign is actually behind The Plaza. This fence opens up and it becomes the walkway you enter through when you come to a Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party or a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

Because it's sort of tucked back in here on the side street, I often forget about The Plaza until we are starving and trying to find a place to eat at 7:00pm! And yes, by that time there is no walk up availability.

I finally got smart and made a reservation for lunch.  As soon as we entered, I could tell this place was a little dated, but it was charming. It actually gave off a classic Disney vibe. I noticed it had similar tables and chairs as Tony's and Crystal Palace, so there was a little familiarity there.

The theme here is like an elegant parlor room from the early 20th century.  It was actually quite lovely.  The detail in the mirrors, lighting, wood trim, and fixtures was all just charming. It almost reminded me of eating at grandma's house. This is one of Disney's smaller table service restaurants and I now understood why I could never get a table when I tried to "walk up".  It was pretty crowded here.

We actually had a table that was up against the wall. Had we been seated at a table in the middle of the room, I think I would not have felt as comfortable. There were a lot of people and wait staff buzzing through this small dining room and I would have felt as if we were in the way.

Plaza at Disney Menu

The Plaza serves American fare, mostly sandwiches and salads.  If you have picky eaters in your group, this is a good place  for them to find familiar food. Lunch is served from 11:00 am to 2:55 pm and Dinner from 3:00 to 9:00pm. I've looked at the menu both online and in person and it seems to be the same food served at both lunch and dinner and there is no price difference. I'm not sure why they needed to break the timing up for lunch and dinner.

BLT Salad

Since it was another hot day,  so I thought just soup and salad sounded good.  I got the classic BLT salad that the Plaza seems to be known for.

Walt's Chili

I also ordered the pinto bean chili served with cashew cream and a lime wedge.  The chili did have some heat to it, so I put a little of the cashew cream in it. I had never had cashew cream before so I was just assuming that was what it was for!  I ended up putting the lime in my drink!

Lacey ended up getting the the BLT salad as well. She also got the seared crab cakes with apple slaw.

This was a good size portion with three crab cakes.  They were light and refreshing, yet filling.

We did have room for dessert!

The Plaza Sundae

We ended up splitting the classic Plaza ice cream. Isn't it cute how they put Mickey ears on it. I don't think either one of us was expecting this.

If you  are looking for a nice table service restaurant that won't take a lot of time out of your park day, this might be it.  We were in and out within an hour. Nothing they serve here is real elaborate so it shouldn't take that long. However, your wait time may depend on how busy they are.

The Plaza Menu at Disney

Also know, the menu here can change quite frequently.  I saw within weeks of me ordering the BLT salad, it had been replaced with just a house salad. Which honestly is not that big of a deal because I didn't feel the BLT salad was that much more elaborate than a regular garden salad anyway.

I also noticed the Chili was no longer on the menu. It does give an option for a "Soup of the day", so maybe somedays it will be Chili.
