Why we love Captain Cooks at Disney's Polynesian Resort

In our humble opinion, one of the most enjoyable quick service restaurants at a Disney resort is Captain Cook's at Disney's Polynesian Resort!

First off, everything about the Polynesian is just enjoyable. Sometimes though, the quick service locations at resorts can seem crowded, rushed, and not have such a great selection.

Captain Cook's is located on the main floor ( ground level) of the Polynesian. It's quick service so of course there are no reservations needed.

There are dining tables both inside and outside. There is an extra indoor dining space right to the left of the restaurant area. This is helpful at breakfast time when it seems to be busiest.

We actually enjoy eating outside on the patio when there are tables available.  We love the lush landscaping and the whole Polynesian vibe!

Besides the overall atmosphere, the food selection here is great.  There is the typical American fare like burgers and fries and also some Polynesian favorites like Thai coconut meatballs and Pan Asian Noodles.

Over the years, I've always enjoyed the chicken and pineapple skewers with a mix greened salad. Lacey has always like the pork nachos here.  On our past visit we decided to try something new.

I got the Aloha pork sandwich with cheddar, Asian slaw, cucumbers, and tomatoes on a brioche bun served with French fries.  It was super yummy and I would get it again.

The pork was not overly sloppy like sometimes pulled pork can be.  I've never had a pulled pork sandwich with all those toppings on it, so that was a nice addition.

Lacey got the Pan Asian noodles with vegetables and she really liked that too.  For a quick service location, the servings were very generous.

You can buy refillable mugs here at this location, as well as other bottled beverages and wine. There is a cooler where you can buy grab and go snacks like fruit, humus and veggies, or splurge on a dessert item like a specialty cupcakes.

When we were there they had brought out Moana cupcakes.

At random times, you may even see some characters around.  Although they won't be in Captain Cook's,  you may see them in the Polynesian lobby, or in the grassy area right outside Captain Cook's patio seating!

Oh, and when you are done with your lunch/ dinner, right around the corner from Captain Cook's ( on the outside) is Pineapple Lania, where you can get a Dole Whip!

Captain Cook's serves breakfast and lunch/dinner. They also have a few plant based options as well.

What is your favorite quick service restaurant at Disney?   -M
