What surprised us about THIS room at Disney's Polynesian Resort

Oh Disney's Polynesian Village resort, how I've missed you so much!

The Polynesian use to be our "go to" resort when we were running all the runDisney races. We loved the large rooms, the fact that we could easily walk to the ticket and transportation center to get the direct monorail to EPCOT, and just returning to a tranquil space after running all those miles.

This was the first time that we have stayed here at the Polynesian Village without having a race to run. It felt fabulous.

Check out our amazing room. Even we were surprised when we saw it!

We were in the Tokelau building which is one of the DVC buildings.

Our room was a standard studio.
It had a very large entry way and to the left was a door that would lead into another room. This was considered a "lock off" room, meaning that if we were traveling with the people on the other side , we could open the door between the rooms and make it one big space. We in fact did not know the people on the other side, so we were not able to do that.
It had a very large closet with several hangers extra pillows and blankets, a safe, and an ironing board and iron.

There was even a laundry basket in here. I did use the iron and ironing board one day and I thought it was odd that there were no outlets in this hallway area that we could plug the iron into.

We had a little kitchenette space which is always nice. There was an outlet here, so this is where I plugged the iron in. The kitchenette includes a sink, microwave, mini fridge/freezer ( which is different than the coolers in the other hotel rooms), and a coffee maker. It comes fully stocked with coffee, creamers, paper products, and dish cleaning products. I really wish we had time to take advantage of this space but we ate every meal outside of the room.

Across the hall is what REALLY surprised us!!

I am always intrigued with what the bathrooms at Disney resorts look like. The value and moderate resorts generally all have the same set up with different decor, but we are usually surprised with what each deluxe resort offers. We like to have the double sink vanities for sure, and it's always nice when the sinks are separated from the toilet and shower area. It has often been a surprise to us which set up each resort has.

When we first looked into the bathroom I was impressed by the size. It's a full size tub ( with Disney  bath products),  and sink and toilet are all in one space. It only has one sink but the space is large enough, so it will do.

BUT THEN....I walked back into the hall and into the next room on my left and was shocked to see that we had yet another bathroom!

This one was just a but smaller but had a full size vanity and a luxurious shower with a waterfall spout! This was going to make it super easy for the two of us to get ready at the same time.
There was no toilet in the second bather but that was okay, we just enjoyed ha e these separate spaces. Having two bathrooms in one room was a first for us in our Disney hotel stays! What a luxury!

Now let's take a look at the living/ sleeping space. This room could ultimately sleep 5 people (if one of them is a child).

You have the tradition queen size bed.

The cabinet below the television is not a function dresser, it is actual a pull out bed for a child.

The cute mural behind it is Lilo and Stitch, which goes along with the Polynesian theme here. There is a light that shines down over this bed when it is flipped down. I'm sure there is a way to turn it off, but I didn't look for it since we didn't actually use this bed.

This wall unit behind the sofa is a Murphy bed.

It pulls down to a queen size bed.

I liked that we got a seating area with a table and chairs because not all resort rooms have these.

This Tiki lamp was a nice touch to the decor but we had trouble turning it on. There is an on/off switch directly on the lamp, but there is a switch to turn it on and off across the room. It took me a while to figure this out.

We had a very large balcony, and this was our peaceful view. The last time we stayed at the Polynesian, we had a monorail view. We enjoyed that one too, but this view was a bit quieter!

Although our room did not overlook the swimming pool, the building we were in, Tokelau, was right in front of it.

The Oasis Pool bar is also located at the pool. We did eat here on the day we checked in.

This is all outdoor seating, but most of the tables are covered. It rained while we ate here but we stayed completely dry.
We ordered at the counter and the server brought our food to our table.

I ordered the grilled chicken avocado wrap that came with fries. I thought the chicken in the wrap was going to be warm, but it was cold and more like a chicken salad. It was good but not what I expected.

Lacey got the fish tacos that also came with fries.

Later that night, I walked outside to watch the fireworks and I accidentally walked out the wrong door. I did not walk out the front way which would lead me out towards the pool. I walked out on the other side of the building, where I could see the ticket and transportation center off to the side, all lit up. And right in front of me was the Polynesian beach and the bungalows.  I couldn't believe what a perfect location we were in.

We had a long day today so Lacey did not want to stay up for the Magic Kingdom fireworks, but I did. One of the benefits of staying at the Polynesian resort is that they pipe in the Fireworks music right to the beach.

One of my favorite memories from this stay at the Polynesian was laying on one of the hammocks on the beach, watching my favorite Disney fireworks show, "Happily Ever After". That was a core memory!

Till next time ~M
