Reindeer Racer in YOUR town

Hi Folks. Today we are linking up with TOTR where the  theme is "How we stayed Healthy over Thanksgiving". I would love to say that we ran a Turkey Trot, but we didn't. However, we did have our first experience on the Appalachain Trail on Saturday!

If you are like us and skipped the Turkey Trot, here is another opportunity for you to run over the holidays. It's the Reindeer Racer.

The Reindeer Racer is a virtual run sponsored by US Road Running as part of their "Get out and Run" program.  You can choose to do either a 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon. ( The cool medal will reflect which ever distance you sign up for).  Since it is a virtual race, you can make your course be anywhere you want. Treadmills count too! You can register for just the medal and bib or for a little extra $ you can register for US Road Running Tech shirt too. There is also a discount for groups who want to sign up. Since you are required to submit your results, this is a great way to hold yourself accountable. For more information, check out the US Road Running site.

A Virtual Race can be a lot of fun. My sister and I did the US Road Running race last December when we did the Jingle Bell Team Challenge.  It was kind of fun dressing up in Christmas-y running gear and actually running while there was snow on the ground.
We were also participating in the Run Chat holiday scavenger hunt so we were taking pictures along the way which added to the festive feeling.
After a blustery yet fun run, we came home to our shiny new holiday medals!
I think it would be fun to get a whole group of people together to do a holiday virtual race! Hmm, maybe we ought to start working on that!

Have you have done a virtual race? Do you have any holiday races coming up?
