And When I say down South, I of course mean Disney World!
Did you know...............
this spring a new show at Animal Kingdom will come alive? It's called River of Light. Of course I haven't seen it but from what I heard I imagine it may be similar to Fantasmic.
Remember that ride in Epcot's Norway called The Maelstrom? Tell us we aren't the only ones sadden by its removal? Well, looks like the ride is back in action and is now a Frozen theme ride called Frozen Ever After. Of course it will feature music from the movie. If you thought the line for Maelstrom was long, I can't even imagine how long the wait will be for this attraction!
Also in Epcot, there are some renovations going on over at Soarin. We were disappointed to see that it was closed while we were there over Marathon weekend. At the time we just thought it was closed for basic renovations. OH NO! It's changing folks! It is no longer Soarin over California. It's now Soarin Around the World! That's right, the film of California will now be changed to film of the world's natural landscape and man made wonders. I really loved Soarin over California so this new change should be interesting. Bye bye soarin as I once knew it!
Let's move on over to Hollywood Studios. The Star Wars Launch Bay is taking place in the Animation Court Yard. This exhibit will give you a peek of what's to come with the new movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I'm not much at all into Star Wars so this doesn't phase me one bit. However, for those who like the Jedi training camp, I hear there will be new characters and villains. Lots of Star Wars stuff happening in HS, including a Star Wars Dessert party coming in March.
Are any of these things new to you or am I the last to know?
I'm excited for the new Soarin but these other changes don't really excite me. I feel like Disney is really pandering to trends rather than classic and timeless attractions. It makes me a little less interested in visiting since Frozen and Star Wars aren't really my thing. -C
ReplyDeleteI totally agree and to be honest i'm not real excited about the changes to Soarin. I very much liked. It just fine the way it was and I don't think people were getting tired of it yet!
DeleteI have to say I'm excited about most of these :) I'm a huge Star Wars fan and while I'm not that huge into Frozen I kind of felt like the Maelstrom ride was looking really dated. I liked Soarin' the way it was but I think they could do some interesting things with the refresh too so fingers crossed. We're taking a break from Disney for a year or two so hopefully a lot of these things will be done by the time we go back.
ReplyDeletethere is a ton going on for Star wars fans! I'm not into Frozen but I will be interested in that ride. You are right Maelstrom did need updating!
DeleteAs a travel agent we find out about everything pretty early, so none of it is new to me lol! Excited for the changes but I hate all the construction!
ReplyDeleteSoarin's changing? OH please oh please let them keep the California one at Disneyland. I was planning on going on that ride in May.
ReplyDeleteNope, that one is changing as well.
DeleteI hate that Soarin is changing, and that its going to be closed for as long as they're planning for. Disney's website says through summer 2016, but on one touring site I read through August 31st, which saddens me if that's really true since we'll be there for a family vacation in mid-August. I am intrigued by the new Animal Kingdom show and am looking forward to checking it out.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you think of the show at AK!
DeleteAll of this is new to me - & has me giddy.
ReplyDeleteI get that new light show is going to be amazing. Fantasmic totally was breath taking to me.
Yea, I feel AK needed something to jazz it up!
DeleteMy sisters are going down with their kids next month and I will pass this all along!
ReplyDeleteShe'll be encountering some construction next month for sure!
Deleteawh, this is just awesome. We were supposed to return this summer, but plans are postponed with my hubby's deployment! Hopefully in 2017!!!
ReplyDeleteI think you will be happy going in 2017 when all the construction is over (until they star working on something else of course)!
ReplyDeleteIm excited for some of these changes! I especially can't wait to see the new Soarin!
ReplyDeleteI really like the old soarin but I bet I'll like the new one too!
DeleteIt is always hard to say good bye to fun attractions but they just keep making stuff even better! Can't wait to see them all!
ReplyDeleteI do like Soaring, but I always thought it was funny that they showed California even in Florida, I always thought they should do different ones. I do like they are doing more of a world one.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure exactly, but if my sisters husband decides to switch jobs in a couple of weeks, she's inviting me with her and her kids to go to Disneyland, so I can watch the kids at night so her husband and her can have date nights there. I'm hoping for the job switch, I just realized the last time I visited was their 50th anniversary and I keep seeing commercials that it's their 60th anniversary guess it's time to go, fingers crossed, LOL
I thought it was funny too that they would have Soarin over CA in Florida until I learned that Soarin was first debut in CA.
DeleteSoaring is my favorite CA Adventure ride! But I love my state so I'm totally biased! I'm sure the World version will not disappoint.
