Characters you might draw at the Animation Experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom

One of our favorite things to do at Disney's Animal Kingdom is take the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch and participate in the Animation Experience.

Although this experience has been available for a while, we just started doing it a few years back. You can read about the full experience HERE.

As you can see from the sign above, the first class starts at 10:00 am. I don't believe we've ever made it to the very first class of the day. Keep in mind the first train to go to Rafiki's Planet watch departs at 9:30 am.  It is about a 7 minute ride.

I have heard that they often bring in live animals as models for the first class of the day. during our last visit we were there for the second class and a cast member told us they had brought a donkey in for the first class because they had sketched Eeyore.

We have yet to sketch Eeyore, but here are some of the characters we've done so far.  These characters are in rotation so there is a good chance you might draw one of them during your visit.

This was Pua, the pig from Moana. The artist told us that the animators for the movie drew the inspiration for Pua from one of the pigs that was here at Animal Kingdom.

Of course I had to get a picture with him.

This was my very first sketch I did at the Animation Experience. It is Tuk Tuk from Raya and the Last Dragon. At the time, I had not seen the movie Raya and the Last Dragon, and I had not seen a picture ahead of time of what Tuk Tuk looked like or what he even was. This one was a challenge for me, but it gave me the desire to keep coming back to see what other characters I would draw. Hopefully I knew who they were.

The Fox and the Hound was one of my favorite storybooks when I was younger, so of course I was pleased to see that we would be getting to draw Copper from The Fox and the Hound.

This was Share Kahn, the tiger from The Jungle Book. I wasn't real pleased how this one turned out.

Thumper, from Bambi was really fun to draw.

And then finally, Bambi.

EDIT: But wait, we recently returned for the Anniversary of The Lion King and we got to draw these character.

Simba, just might be my favorite character that we've drawn so far.

Mufasa was quite challenging to draw. I wasn't happy with this one at first, but now that I got it home I think it looks okay.

This is not a complete list of characters. I am sure there are many others in the rotation. The classes start at 10:00 and then run every 45 minutes.  We did not sketch all these characters in one day. This is over several visits to Animal Kingdom.

Which character would you like to draw?  -M
