Organize This Year is such an ironic title since this year already started out so chaotic, am I right?
Although I am quite frustrated with what is going on with our nation, I know the only thing that I CAN control is my little corner of the world, and that is what I am focusing on.
This year brought us an addition to our kitchen! It was a project that started before Thanksgiving and was completed the second week of the New Year. It gave us a new eating space, work space, additional storage, and dog food center. And since this all looked so nice, we decided to give our Kitchen a new fridge. Our old fridge was only 4 years old, but this new one is so much nicer! It's a French door one. I could fill it with a normal grocery haul and it still looks quite bare...lol
Since I have this new stuff in my kitchen, I wanted to start organizing things and make things more manageable.
Here are some products that I'm using or that I think would be great in a kitchen that is being re-organized!
These Air Tight Containers are perfect for the pantry. They are the only ones I've found that are less than $30 and have the chalkboard labels on them!
Do you have a cupboard or drawer for all the flat stuff like cookie sheets, cutting boards, cooling racks? I usually end up stacking them on top of one another, but with this Adjustable Bakeware Rack, I'll be able to pull out just what I need with out removing a handful of other items. It also keeps it nice and neat looking too.
These Silicon Lids are awesome! This particular set comes with 13 lids of various sizes. They are silicon, so they will stretch to the size of whatever it is you are covering. You'll never have to worry about not have the right lid for a container again! It also covers the ends of fruits and vegetables ( you can save on plastic wrap). This set is less than $9.
This is an item that gets used very hard at my house, so much that I asked for another set for Christmas. Adjustable Measuring Spoons save so much space in your drawers. GO NOW and toss your multiple measuring spoons that are on the plastic ring! When you get the adjustable ones, be sure to get the all plastic ones. The one I had before was stainless steel with rubber around the slider. After a while the rubber gets slimy and it is hard to clean. Eventually it will start to peel apart. Just a tip!
And of course if we are going to get organized, we have to have some cute decor, right?
I'd like to get a Mini Chalk Board for on my one counter top, but I'm looking for one that is on a pedestal and a bit fancier than the ones pictured here. However, the ones pictures are a great price and you get TWO of them!
If I ever feel like going to a store again, I bet they have those chalk boards and some other cute decor at Michael's Arts and Crafts store. I'd just rather shop online but I do miss just browsing randomly for stuff!
I'm participating in the "Clear the Clutter" challenge for the next few weeks. I already shared some kitchen tips in my IG story this past week and hope to be on again this coming week with some more tips!
What room are you organizing for the start of the year?
THat baking pan rack looks like something I need! My pans are all stacked up precariously and it's always risky opening the cabinet door. I also could use some better organization for my sauce pans. Great ideas. Your kitchen is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOoh, they actually have vertical sauce pan organizers. I unfortunately do not have the cupboard space for one of those without removing a bunch of shelves. Just remember if you are storing pots and pans and they are touching one another, to protect the insides with paper towels or something else so they do not scratch the insides.
DeleteYour new kitchen is gorgeous! So bright and inviting. Hubby and I are in the process of weeding out, donating, and throwing away. We are slowly getting ready to downsize. The house we live in now is the one where we raised 3 boys. It's too big and has too much yard to take care of. Getting organized feels so good!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have quite the project in front of you! Do you have plans to move anytime soon?
DeleteWe're looking at redoing our kitchen in the next few years. It's original 1960's and not in a "cute" or "retro" way. Getting started is the hardest part, so it's good for me to see "after" stories for motivation. We have quite a few nice bowls that don't have lids, so I may have to treat us to some of those lids.
ReplyDeleteI do love a good 1960's kitchen! I wish I took more before and after pics during our kitchen re-do over the years. We didn't have anything bad, it was just plain ( if that makes sense).
Deleteooh that sink saddle! I could use one of those. I cannot stand to touch anything wet with my hands (I guess it's an OCD thing LOL), so that would be a great place to stash my scrub brushes, etc.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love that gadget so much. I'm thinking about getting another one!
DeleteOh my goodness, your new kitchen is fabulous! And love all the organization items you've tagged!
ReplyDeleteIt is certainly that time of year to get organized, isn't it?😊
DeleteOOH, I love your new kitchen!! I was the same way when ours was finished - I wanted to organized it with new, matching things. I ended up with OXO pop top containers but they don't come with labels so I made my own. It's so fun to do this, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWe are similar in that I love to organize things! I really enjoyed when you documented your kitchen renovations! I remember we were going through some of the same stuff during that time!
DeleteAre those silicone lids hard to put on? I feel like I would stretch it & have the bowl fly across the room - HAHA
ReplyDeleteI posted a sink holder thing too - I love this one with the sponges!
I actually have not use them. My mom has them though and I never heard her say much about them. Hmm, maybe she doesn't use them ...haha
DeleteI have some of those silicone lids my husband bought for me. I don't really like them that much. They don't cling as well as I'd like them to. The adjustable measuring spoons? That's something I definitely use pretty much daily! I use mason jars for storage.
ReplyDeleteOur refrigerator -- which is about 12 years old -- it is a french door one. But it's never, ever bare!
Aww, that's a shame about those lids. I actually saw on TV the other day some other containers that have expandable lids and I am tempted to get those ( but I don't need any more containers). Yes, I love the adjustable measuring spoons just for the simple fact that they save so much space in a drawer!
DeleteThose measuring spoons are so cool! I've never seen those before!

I first started getting those spoons from Pampered Chef, but now over the years they are easier to find at other places and of course Amazon has everything...lol! Thanks for reading!
DeleteWhat an exciting project. I love the idea of really tackling my food organization. I've often thought of getting all the air tight containers for cereal but then I ran into the issue of what you I do with the leftovers in the bag? Anyway, I've been wanting to try those silicone tops, I think that's brilliant, as we are always having a mismatch of lids and containers. LOL. I was really excited to catch your entry closet clean-up.
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you friend! Those food storage containers are nice, but they do take up a lot more room.
DeleteI saw they also have those silicon lids at QVC.com!
