Since we are still trying to make running a part of our lives, I thought I would visit the "Runfessional" with Marcia and our other running pals!
I Runfess that our weather here the first part of January was pretty mild and I should have got out to log some miles ( either running or walking) but I didn't. I was content walking laps around the inside of my house to get those steps in! #GotToHitThoseFitbitGoals
I Runfessed in a previous post that I have been struggling getting those 10,000 steps in each day so I gave myself a new goal of just doing a 5K each day and that has worked out much better, but I still Runfess that there are days I am just shy of reaching that goal, but then those are days I'm not really trying, so I don't beat myself up over that.
I have Runfessed this before, but I am so happy about it that I will Runfess it again.....I LOVE my Nordic Track bike! I shared that in years past I was subscribing to their iFit program ( that was for both my Nordic Track bike AND Treadmill) but got frustrated with it so did not continue with the subscription. I have been happy using the free stuff I find online. However, I have Runfess that I have been curious about this Peleton app that everyone is talking about. From what I have been seeing, it looks as though you don't need to have a Peleton bike to use the app. I've been meaning to research this and find out more about it, but I haven't. I'll just let anyone that knows anything about it tell me in the comments!
So Runfess to me, have you used the Peleton app without having a Peleton bike? What is it all about?
-M
Happy Weekend friends!
Correct! You do not need a Peloton to use the app. They have every workout you could imagine - bike, run, strength, yoga, etc, etc. I don't bike but I tried the app last month. I ended up finding something else that I wanted to do so I didn't keep it past the free trial BUT I will say that I got a ton of ideas from it for $0 so IMO you will not be sorry if you try it.
ReplyDeleteSo can I use it with my treadmill too?
DeleteI have been biking indoors a lot this winter as well. I still have not tried the Peloton app either (and I mentioned something similar in my Runfession post LOL). Some of us have been doing Saturday morning Zoom rides...let me know if you'd like more info on that!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, that sounds fun! Thanks for the invite. I will contact you.
DeleteI runfess that I have a little of the FOMO because I don't have an indoor bike! I could put my bike in the trainer, but the thing is...I don't want to! LOL I'm good with running...
ReplyDeleteYea, I wasn't always into biking either but it is a good alternative in the winter!
DeleteAs has been mentioned, you just need the Peloton app & it's a whole lot cheaper than a Peloton bike. Plus they charge you a higher monthly fee when you have the bike, which just seems wrong! I highly recommend the app.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you found a challenge that speaks to you! I love the challenges that allow all different sorts of movement.
One of my tricks for getting in more steps on the daily is I pace around while I'm talking on the phone or steeping tea. I drink a lot of tea. :) If we get a dogwalk in (today is way too cold for that!) it's pretty easy for me to hit about 7-10k. Without that, usually somewhere between 5-6k.
I don't have step goals though. I just listen to my body and do what feels right.
That is good to know because I do not plan on buying a Peloton bike! I'm hitting about the same amount of steps you are each day!
DeleteI have a new bike as well and I love it. That said, I have not yet tried the Peloton app. For no other reason than I'm finding tons of free bike workouts on YouTube. The 5k series sounds fun! Thanks for linking!
ReplyDeleteI am just curious as to what it is and how all these classes are different..lol
DeleteI love my bike. it is not a spin bike. I did sign up for the free 2 month trial for Peleton. Ther ar tons of free stuff on Youtube though.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a step goal. My watch tracks it. If I run I get at least 5k steps. If I add a hike or walk then 10k. Long runs are a lot more. I just try to stay active.
But if you need a goal, that's fine too.
My Nordic Track is not a spin bike either.
DeleteIt is great that you have found a fitness challenge that works for you. Since you do have a bike, why not get the free 2 month Peloton app? Nothing to lose so much to gain it's amazing. You can also use it for your outdoor runs/walks they have guided classes for those
ReplyDeleteYes, I am very curious so I will look into it.
Deleteyou're correct that you don't need the Peloton bike to use the app. I know many people that use a regular spin bike with the app. You should definitely test it out as they are offering 2 months free right now!
ReplyDeleteI runfess I must be the only runner on the planet who has not used Peloton! It has been mild here, so I have been getting out to run. I am enjoying finally running stress-and injury-free. It seems like it's been a while since I could say that. We are forecast to get 3 - 6 inches of snow on Monday, so that may change.
ReplyDeleteNah, you're not the only one! I'm glad you have been able to stay outdoors for your runs! Yay for running injury free!
DeleteI have not tried Peloton either, but I do love riding my Life Fitness spin bike. While riding sometimes I read and sometimes I chat virtually with friends - whatever makes the time go by! I finish tired, but I really should push myself harder.
ReplyDeleteI like that goal of doing a 5k every weekend ... that seems more feasible. I may have to finish winter out with that.
