1. First thing was to head to the Expo. We usually find the expo to be so much fun and spend a lot of time there but this year we did what we needed to do and were out of there.
Things on the to do list for the expo were....
1. Buy official Marathon Jacket.
2. Return the pre-order jacket ( I didn't care for the design this year and they did run really small).
3. Buy some GU and Honey Stingers.
4. Grab a sign for the Half Marathon.
For some reason we did not end up finding the booth that had the signs, so I had to make my own when we got back to the resort later that night.
The jackets actually say "Running Around the World in 26.2 Miles". |
We did get these marathon jackets which we really like. This is my third teal Run Disney Jacket so I would have liked it if it was black ( like the men's version), but I do like that it is a full zip ( not a half zip) and it is fleecy inside.
2. Our second favorite thing on Friday was our Blogger lunch. We were invited to the Odyssey Center in Epcot for a fabulous spread and great conversation with other blogger friends.
3. The lunch was followed by some games. My sister and I were separated and each on a different team. The games consisted of a combination of trivia questions and activities.
Of course a visit with Mickey and Minnie was in order.
After getting out of our wet clothes (because we got caught in the rain), we freshened up a bit and made our way back to Epcot later that night to a Race Reception that we were invited to. The reception was in the American Pavilion in World Showcase. We met several people who are influential in the race community.
We also got to meet Paula Radcliffe. Paula is the current world record holder ( for women) in the Marathon distance. We took this picture for one of our friends. ( Sorry about the photo quality. The lighting in this venue was not very good).
5. The night ended with another great meal and a visit with "another" Mickey!
Because we had to get up early for the half marathon, we left Epcot before Illuminations.
So that was our very busy Friday last week.
What were some of your favorite things from last week?
We are linking up with the girls from the Friday 5 for Friday Favorites.
I love, love, love those jackets!!! It reminds me of retro Epcot. Sounds like you guys had a bunch of blogger stuff going on. How fun!!!
ReplyDeleteSince I wasn't there *sniff, sniff* my favorite thing from last week was living vicariously through everyone else on social media.
It's definitely hard to see all your friends at a race weekend that you want to be at. I think we've definitely had our fill of Disney races for a while!
DeleteYeeeaaaaahhhh....I said the same thing. I've hardly done any racing for the last two years, so now I'm ready to go!! ;)
DeleteSorry I missed seeing you both over the weekend. My favorite thing about the weekend was meeting Paula and cheering at the half marathon. The injury sustained during the marathon made my race not very magical.
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry we didn't get to see you as well. Glad you were able to meet Paula!
DeleteAwwwh, I always wanted to get a photo with Mickey, but I never managed to. Very jealous!
ReplyDeleteHopefully there will be a picture with Mickey in your future!
DeleteYou guys sure were busy! It looks like a lot of fun. :)
ReplyDeleteDisney race weekends are always so busy. Not much time for relaxing!
DeleteAhhh, very jealous you met Paula. When I read she was running the half, I was jealous of everyone at Disney last weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe talked to her for a bit and she seemed very nice!
DeleteCongrats on the Disney marathon! Looks like a very fun day before the race!
ReplyDeleteYes it was very fun! Busy, but fun!
DeleteWow, you guys fit a lot into that Friday! I love the jackets, they look great :)
ReplyDeleteThe jackets are some of the nicest disney race jackets I've seen!
DeleteSounds like it was a fun filled Friday! I love the Marathon jackets, I wish I had bought one when I ran the full marathon! Maybe next time?! :P
ReplyDeleteKaren @karenlovestorun
I ordered the pre-order jacket that you can purchase without seeing but I didn't like the way it looked. I like this jacket much better!
DeleteSeriously the best. I was registered this year and due to new job/money things I couldn't make it down. I love reading all the fantastic recaps even if I'm sad to have missed it all!
ReplyDeleteThere's always next year! And honestly, race conditions this year weren't all that great!
DeleteWhat an amazing day! I love that you made the most of the whole weekend and were able to fit in so many things you love. So cool that you got to meet Paula Radcliffe and David McGillvery! Were they running in the races?
ReplyDeletePaula was running the half and Dave was running the full. I actually ran beside Dave for a little while during the Full marathon!
DeleteSounds like you had an incredible day! Happy Friday, ladies!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel!
DeleteThanks Karen! We actually have never seem Football and cheerleader Mickey and Minnie before.
ReplyDeleteWow Paula Radcliffe! Very cool. I too wish I could have seen you guys this weekend. Next time I guess.
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely! We were thinking about you Frank!
DeleteLove the jackets! So cool you met Paula Radcliffe!
ReplyDeleteYipee with pictures of famous peeps - & Mickey & Minnie being the top :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got those jackets!
I loved watching your IG while you were in Disney :)
What a fun day! I love the jackets, super nice! I am glad you two had a great time, sorry I did not get to catch up with you on this visit.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day at Disney! The past couple of Cigna blogger events have looked like a lot of fun. I'm always sad when I get the invite in my e-mail and have to decline since I'm not at that particular runDisney race weekend. Hopefully the stars will align correctly in the future!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous you gals got to meet Paula!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! The smiles on your faces are priceless
ReplyDeleteThat would definitely be a fun Friday in my books. I would love to do a Disney race one day. The first one here in Europe is next Sept. and I am not available because I have a wedding... ggrrrrr. Lucky you !
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great day!! I love the jackets you two got!
ReplyDeleteAlways fun meeting running heroes :-) Especially when they are at Disney!! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat jacket looks really cool - and I love the slogan on it. Fun to meet other bloggers!
ReplyDeleteLooks fun! And this makes me want to run Disney again! It's really changed since I ran it 5 years ago!
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun! This is the first year I actually am having an urge to run Disney. What's gotten in to me?? Paula looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love the jackets! I did not see them, but I did not get to spend much time at the Expo on Saturday as my kids did the Mickey Mile and wanted to hit up some rides right after that!! I hope you had a great race, despite the crazy humidity!! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I love this and it totally makes me jealous. And the jacket is awesome! I need to get myself into a Disney race!!
ReplyDeleteI love those jackets, too. The blogger event looks pretty awesome. In fact, that itinerary looks really fun. I'm glad you guys had another great trip!
ReplyDeleteDisney is such a magical place, I imagine adding running to the spread only makes it grander ;-)Love the jacket!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you guys had such fun! We opted not to arrive until late Friday night and stayed for a few days after the marathon. I went to the expo twice Saturday, not by choice. I only bought a magnet. The jackets are cute.
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I'll make it to Disney. So jealous that you got to meet Paula:)
ReplyDeleteLooks like yall had a great time too! I ran my very first marathon and first Disney run all at the same time! I bought a Disney marathon trading pin and also a Run Disney magic band I can't wait to wear next time!
