One thing I neglected to bring up during my weekly wrap was that I had a major pain in my shoulder all week. At first I thought it was from constantly typing on my phone ( as I had felt a twinge of pain earlier and thought that's what it could be from). This pain was major and by Saturday night I could barely move it and it hurt to even lay down on it.
What in the world could this be from? Did I sleep wrong on it? There is no way I could even think of
running with a pain like this. I desperately needed a massage but it was a little late for that now. Would foam rolling it work? Was it a pulled muscle?
When I woke up on Sunday morning I could barely pull myself out of bed because I was in so much pain. I decided to put some Biofreeze on it and hope for the best. It wasn't until I was out in the garage watching Scott load things into the boat that I realized why my shoulder was so sore.

The only picture of my ( partial) lawn I took over the weekend. |
Scott had been away all week and I wanted to surprise him by mowing the lawn before he came home. The riding lawn mower intimidates me ( especially when no on is around to help me with it) so I opted to use the push mower. I thought it would be fun to see how many steps I could get in. The mower is self propelled which makes it easier to push, but it is not self starting which means that you still have to pull the string to get it going. I pulled the sucker at least 6 times before I got it going. Each time I pulled it more fierce than the last because I was getting frustrated I couldn't get it going. It finally started and that is how I do believe I injured my shoulder! How could I have not remembered that?
It is still a little sore but now I know that if I'm going to help out with the mowing I need to either ride the tractor or do some upper body strength exercises! -m
Do you mow your lawn? Have you ever hurt yourself doing chores?
Ive never mowed the lawn but I find my arms get sore just from vacuuming! I hope it feels better quickly!
ReplyDeleteOne reason to vacuum less! I have a Dyson and it is pretty lightweight!
DeleteI had that happen when I was starting the snowblower one winter. My husband was at work and I thought I'd could be self-sufficient. I couldn't get the damn thing started and after so many pulls on the cord, I was sore. And mad...
ReplyDeleteI could totally see that!
DeleteBack when I actually mowed my lawn :) I bruised my sternum. I had to go to the doctor a couple days later because I was having a hard time breathing. I also didn't realize it was because of mowing till I talked to the doctor.
ReplyDeleteMan this mowing is a dangerous thing!
DeleteOh no!!! Poor shoulder!!! I've never mowed a lawn-- I'm allergic :-). Hope it feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteIt's starting to feel better, thanks.
DeleteI'm glad your shoulder calmed down a bit. My shoulder actually hurt this weekend too because I slept on it wrong! We're getting old! We hurt ourselves just doing normal stuff!
ReplyDeleteO my yes! I hurt myself sleeping the wrong way too!
DeleteI've never mowed the lawn, but I've gotten bruises from basic things, and I don't even remember how I got them. My mom's done that my whole life, and now I'm starting to do that. I had an impressive one a few weeks ago and had no idea how I got it.
ReplyDeleteThat's the worse seeing a bruise and not knowing where it came from.
DeleteFunny you said that... mowing the grass is how I tore my Bicep Tendon & caused all my Bicep Tendinitis... mowing the grass aint no joke!
ReplyDeleteIt's tough work!
DeleteOh no, I hope it's back to normal soon! It's weird how every day activities can lead to pain. I have to admit that we actually pay someone to come mow our lawn once a week.
ReplyDeleteI guess I need to get in better shape!
DeleteI wonder if you hurt your rotator cuff..that sounds like the exact pain that I had. The only thing that made it feel better was wearing a sling so that it would be in a relaxed stage and doing some physical therapy. Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I hope I don't need therapy!
DeleteI reached around to the backseat of the car once and pulled something. Do you have time to go for a massage? Sometimes it is a muscle knot that can be worked out
ReplyDeleteI think it's on the verge of working itself out!
DeleteThat sounds painful!! I would have taken me a whole week to figure out where the pain came from! I hope your shoulder is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even remember until I walked in the garage and saw the mower as I was holding my shoulder in pain!
DeleteSorry to hear about all of the shoulder pain. I hope that you're starting to feel better sooner than later.
ReplyDeleteIt is getting better. Thank you.
DeleteI pressure washed our patio and some lawn chairs on Sunday and I my arm was so sore the next day - at least I could remember why, but that didn't make the pain go away any quicker! Funny - we can be in decent shape but do one thing out of the norm, and OUCH.
ReplyDeleteMy plan was to actually pressure wash the next day but there was no way I was going to be ale to do that the way I was feeling. I love the satisfaction from pressure washing something.
DeleteOh no! I do hope your shoulder feels better soon! So sorry that happened to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen. I do believe I'm on the mend.
DeleteYup, I'm totally taking it easy....haha
ReplyDeleteHe did say the lawn looked great!
ReplyDeleteOuch! Hope you get well soon!
