What a Charming Idea: Finding Good Luck Charms for Race day

Today's Tuesdays on The Run theme is "Good Luck Charms or Race Superstitions".  Some people make sure they eat the same exact thing before every race, or they wear a certain pair of socks, or some other thing that they think if they do exactly like their last race that they will have good luck.  We aren't that superstitious.  We don't even have good luck charms. I say that hesitantly because I found something that I really wanted to become a "Good luck" charm but to tell you the truth, I kind of forgot about it.

Before my very first half marathon ( at Disney of course), I was gifted with this cute shoe charm.

I wore it during the whole weekend of races. I finished  the races in an upright position, so I guess it was lucky!   I had wanted to wear it to every single Disney race I ran since then (including the Marathon and this year's Glass Slipper Challenge),but that didn't happen. I guess when I stopped wearing these shoes, I just forgot about the charm that was on them. I even remember thinking to myself while packing for Disney " I need to get my Magical Miles Charm off my pink shoes", yet it never happened.

The charm pictured is from Gone for a Run (I love that site). Another site, Bee Cause Charms has a great selection of shoe charms from  Disney Inspired charms to City charms. I have been tempted to order from here but because I know someone who had a bad experience with their customer service, I am trying to resist.  (See, Customer Service is everything so it really pays to be nice to people).  One other site I have found that sells these cute shoe charms is Called ShoeFrosting.com.  I just think that is such a cute name! They have a few running charms and some distances but they also have occupation charms and other activity charms too.

I had been wanting to get a charm for every city that I've ran in but I realize that would cover up most of my shoes and perhaps look a little silly. I'd probably forget to put them on my shoes anyway!

    I'm with you - I think the shoe charms are cute, but I'd never remember to switch them to my new shoes. Heck, a friend gave me a pair of those sparkly shoe wings, and I haven't even unlaced my shoes to put them on!

    I have a few charms from Shoe Frosting. I'm bad about not switching them to my new shoes and never thought of them as lucky...just CUTE.

    I wanted an I Did It shirt from my first half, but you always need to buy those before since they won't be at the finish line. I bought it, then immediately handed it to my mom to hide from me. I didn't take it out of the bag and cut the tags off until after I earned it.

    I have seen these show charms and think they are super cute! I've thought about getting some but I would probably forget to switch them too.

    Maybe start a charm bracelet if you want a charm for every city that you run in?

      My sister and I both started an Italian Charm bracelet with the cities/countries we've visited but sadly it's hard to find those charms anymore since they are no longer popular.

    I agree - I also have a pair of schwings that never made it on any of my shoes, I just can't be bothered to un- and re-lace them. It's hard enough remembering to move my velcro road ID! But I always admire other people's charms, because they are super cute.

    I have seen the shoe charms but have never purchased them. I do have a Pandora bracelet that has charms for running, including a castle, running shoes, airplane, suitcase etc!

    I don't have any shoe charms because I end up being indecisive. I can't pick just one.
    & I don't want shoes from the 80's where they were full of friendship bead pins. Anyone remember those? haha

    Cute but I don't know if I would do them. Do you do one on each shoe? Because to me just 1 would look uneven and then there I am spending 20+ dollars on shoe accessories lol.

      I totally see your point. I once picked out all the charms I would like to have but then thought "wow, that's a lot of $ just on shoe accessories".

    I've also just thought of shoe charms as cute, but I like the idea of them as good luck charms. I don't have any good luck charms, but maybe I should!

    I never had a good luck charm until last fall when my coach made me that Believe rock. It has brought me 3 good races, so I'm thinking I shouldn't race without it!
