We have been blessed to be a part of a very active family. So when the gals from the DC Trifecta blog hop suggested Family as the theme, I thought this would be a great time to share a little bit about mine.
1. Our family races have always consisted of running at Disney. To date, Disney races are the only race where all four of us have run together.
2. I've been lucky enough to do several races with just my dad. The very first race that we ran together he placed first in his age group! I was so proud of him!
3. I've also done several races with just my mom. We really help push and encourage each other along the course!
4. I've done one race with my mom and my dad together. Although we did not stick together during the entire race, we all crossed the finish line closely together and had a great celebration afterwards.
5. Although my sister and I have run many of the same races, we rarely run them together at the same pace. This race was an exception. We ran side by side the whole time! Running with my sister is very special and we have many more races we've plan to run side by side in the future.
So far these have been my favorite people to run with. However, I have a few races planned this year with some other very special folks and I am very excited about that! I can't wait to add some others to our family of runners!
Who do you run with? Do you do races with your family too?
Please visit us again on Monday as we have a post that we will need YOU to be a part of!

I run solo a lot, but my husband and I both love to do races and even though we haven't run together yet we plan to for at least the Jingle Jungle 5K later this year. I'm so excited to cross a finish line with him!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome that you and your family are all so active and love to race... my dad said he'd be up for a race sometime and now I just need to convince my mom! Since she's seen a few of my races she has mentioned she is definitely interested though! :0)
I love that my parents are so involved! Hope you get your parents to run sometime soon!
DeleteI ran a half with my little brother once. We ran together most of the way but he dropped back at the end. We also did a 20 mile training run together once. It did not go well. He breathed too loud and it annoyed the crap out of me lol!
ReplyDeleteI love that you ran with your Dad! So jealous! Family is amazing. I love the support in yours :) Have a great weekend! - Fit Foodie Runs
ReplyDeleteThanks Amber. Our parents are both very motivating!
DeleteDisneyGroom and I run our 5Ks together as you know. A few years back I did a Jingle Bell fun run with my sis; we each took one of my dogs and had a great time. I ran an Iron Girl event last year with my mother. At age 70, it was her first road race - and we ran IN COSTUME. I needn't have worried about her getting tired. When we crossed the finish and got our medals, she seemed disappointed, and said to me, "oh, I was hoping the course would be longer. I was really having a good time and didn't want it to end." Guess we need to seek out a longer distance for her! ~DisneyBride
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome that your mom ran that! I am very impressed how so many older adults are getting into running for the first time! I wish we could run with our Labradors in an actually race, but I suspect my dog would probably become a hazard!
DeleteMy family has done races together, sometimes at the same pace and sometimes a different pace. We don't have to run together but we stay active, even when we're living in different states.
ReplyDeleteLove family races!
DeleteAww I love that your family runs together! No one in my family runs. :-( My oldest son just recently expressed interested in starting though so I'm hoping he likes it as much as I do!!
ReplyDeleteHow nice would that be if your son becomes your running partner!
DeleteI run solo...but I am hoping that my future hubby likes to run so we can share that ;) If not...maybe my future children will!
ReplyDeleteI'm slowly trying to get my husband into walking/running. We will see how that goes!
DeleteI run solo alot during training , but as you know, I love running races with Christine! We have helped each other out so much during the harder parts of races....it's always nice to have your best running buddy by your side in the challenging moments. By the way, my husband ran one Thanksgiving race with us, a 5k and he took second in his age group but he is "one and don"!
ReplyDeleteMy husband signed up for the Mickey Trail run 5K in October. I'm excited to see how that goes and if he will be a "one and done" as well.
DeleteI wish my family ran... its why I didn't start running till I was 37 years old. No one runs in my family... I was excited with my twin nieces started running cross country... but it only lasted 1 year. Dang.
ReplyDeleteAww, too bad. Would have been nice for you to run races with them.
DeleteYou have the cutest family! I run alone now (boo) but my BFF just started running and I am looking forward to doing a 5k with her this summer, which I am really looking forward to! I would give ANYTHING for my husband to run, but its just not his thing. I really hope my son loves to run when he gets older...if his current running is any predictor, we could be running buddies in a few years! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! That would be fabulous if your son became your running buddy! You'd have to bring him to a Disney race for sure!
DeleteLove love love that picture of you and Lacey running the Enchanted 10k! You girls look fabulous! Of course I love running with my mama. Running with family makes an event even more special I think. -Christine
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine! I agree that running with family is very special! We've create such fun memories over the years!
DeleteI run alone...I am trying to get my daughter into it, so far not working, but she is young and loves the bling. LOVE your photos, what a fun family you have.
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie! I hope your daughter takes a liking to running!
DeleteThat is SO COOL that your entire family races! Way to go Mom & Dad! My sister and I did one tri together. We would love to do more in the future. I NEED her there, she is my calming source. Sisters rock :)
ReplyDeleteI pretty much run solo. My family is not into running at all, or really any sports (other than watching them on tv).
ReplyDeleteI think it's really cool that your family does this together!
I love that you've run so many races with your sister and parents. Even if you're not running the race side by side, its still a fun family event! My husband and I often run the same races, but don't usually run them together. He did, however, run my first 10k and half marathon with me, and it was very encouraging and supportive to have him by my side for my first race of those distances.
ReplyDeleteI love this so much! I would LOVE to run a race with my dad or my mom (or sis!) -- my dad used to run but now doesn't as much. Your family is adorable -- great post!
ReplyDeleteIt's not to late to get them to a race ( or another one for your dad)! Thanks!
DeleteIt is so wonderful that your family runs with you! That picture of you and your sister running together is so sweet! My family doesn't really run much with me. My older son did Expedition Everest with me last year and promptly "retired" from running. My husband is going to do Expedition Everest with me this year, but he has super flat feet, so distance running is hard for him. The little one is my best hope (LOL) because he is so active and competitive and crazy. I have to get training so I can keep up with him!
ReplyDeleteI would love to run with my family but most of them are not into running! I definitely enjoy running with people but sometimes I need my solo runs! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Family is the best!
I love this post - it is so cool that you run together, even if it's not at the same pace through the race! My dad and I are signed up for a duathlon together, and we've done a few other races together (a 5K, a 2-day bike ride). I can't wait to do the race with him in July! I've done two mud runs with my sister and SIL, but never a road race. I hope to change that this year!
ReplyDeleteMy family rides bike together too, but it would scare me if any of use were to "race" on them...lol
DeleteI'm lucky to have my husband as my running buddy. We started running to get healthy together, so it just seemed natural for us to race together. Even years later, our Sunday morning long runs are a must. We mostly run together, but we also run separately, mostly so he can get his PR. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm working on my husband to run even a little bit with me!
DeleteYay!! I wish any of my family members would race with me :( So cool that you've been able to do so many with ALL your family!
ReplyDeleteLove running with my 18 year old son and now Rey has taken up running a bit! Even Savannah, my 13 year old has been walking and I've seen her sneak some running intervals in on the treadmill, so I seem to be converting them all! It's my master plan! Mwahahahaaaaa!
ReplyDeleteI saw that Rey did that race with you! That's wonderful that he is taking an interest!
DeleteI run by myself but my husband and I always do the same races together! I wish more of my family was active, but I have pretty active friends so that helps! :)
ReplyDeleteInspiring!
ReplyDeleteI love this! My sister is running a 10K with me next weekend and I'm so proud of her.
