Animator's Palate rotational dining on the Disney Magic Cruise Ship

Our first dining rotation on the Disney Magic was in Animators Palate. We really enjoyed this dining room and can't wait to tell you all about it!

The theme here is that classic Disney Animation.  When I think of Animators Palate, I think of this as the OG restaurant on the Disney Cruise Ships. Which makes sense, since the Disney Magic is literally the OG Disney Cruise Ship!

Of course we stuck with the theme of the restaurant with our attire and went with the classic Minnie dots.

As you enter the restaurant, it is all black and white.

The tables and decor give it a bit of a 1950's diner vibe. I liked it!

As the meal started, a little bit of color was added to the dinning room. This came in the form of changing lights, color on the wall, and animation on the screens.

Eventually the animation came to life and music started playing. When I say animation came to life, I mean that in the sense that the animation that is hanging on the wall turned into video clips of Disney movies and one live Disney character even came out to dance around the dining room!  But I'm getting ahead of myself because that part didn't happen till much later.

Since this was our first dinner, this was also the first time we would be meeting our table mates.  We were seated at a table for 8. It would be my sister and I, two other couples, and a set of friends.

When we sat down, we were attended to very quickly.

                                                              This was our menu.

Everything sound so good! What should we get?

Here were our appetizers.

Butternut squash soup
                                                    Creamy Butternut Squash Soup

Baked potato and cheddar cheese soup
Baked Potato and Cheddar Cheese Soup

                                                                      Tomato Tarte

                        Here were our entrees.

                                                                       Grilled Tuna Steak

Lemon Thyme marinated all natural chicken breast.

All the food was good and we had no complaints. However, there was not anything that was so exceptional that it stood out or that I would even remember once I debarked the cruise. Except maybe the dessert, and I'll talk about that later.

Between the entree and dessert course is when the dinning room really became lively. Lots of music and a surprise guest.
Sorcerer Mickey was of course the guest that came out. I don't think we were actually expecting him, so we were surprised.  Our table was right beside the kitchen, and that's were Mickey came out from. We just caught a quick glimpse of him as he ran past our table.  He did a dance around the dining room and then he was gone.

Then it was dessert time. This was our menu.

Doesn't it all look good?

Now on to the desserts. I ordered the Lemon Icebox pie. When it came out, my immediate thought was "This looks so familiar,  I've had this dessert before."  And I wasn't wrong. When I got back to my cabin, I looked at photos from our last Disney cruise and sure enough I had this same exact dessert on the Disney Wish. When I ordered it last time, it was called Key lime pie. It tasted the same.

sticky date pudding
Lacey ordered the warm sticky date pudding.

And also the chocolate fudge cheesecake.

One of our table mates order this crunchy walnut cake.
Shortly after finishing dessert, we excused ourselves ( as many of our table mates did as well) and left the dining room.

Animator's Palate is the OG restaurant when it comes to Disney Cruise Lines. As far as theming goes, and ya'll know I love a good theme, this was top notch. I do not think they could have done a better job showcasing their animation. I loved all the changing color and having the music play made it that much more exciting to be there. Although the food was good, the theming here is what is memorable!

The Animator's Palace restaurant is featured not only on the Disney Magic ship, but also on the Disney Dream, Fantasy, and Wonder ships.

This may have been my favorite dining experience on the Disney Magic, maybe.  Stay tuned as we explore the other dining rooms!

Till next time~ M & L
