Weekly Wrap..September 9

This week was so busy that I don't actually remember the exact days I did each activity,  but this is what happened over Labor Day week.

Sunday morning I did my very first Zumba class on the boardwalk. This stuff is hard! I didn't know any of the moves so I just tried to keep up. For those of you who do Zumba, is every class different or do you eventually do the same "dances" so you get to learn the moves?

Since it was Labor Day weekend, we spent a lot of time on the boardwalk and on the beach. I did get more the 3 miles in but 3 is all I officially tracked on my watch.
I also got in a 7 mile bike ride.

Later in the week I actually did a treadmill run! I cant believe it. I've NEVER used the treadmill during the summer but it was WAY too hot after I got home from school and I felt it was a better option. I opened the doors for a while so it was kind of like I was outside. Of course this didn't last lo g because the humidity was too intense and I needed air conditioning!

I had "Back to School" night and our school cook out this week and then had to pack for a weekend trip.

We rented a lake house along the Finger Lakes in New York with some friends. The weather has been cooler up here than what I've been use to at home but felt absolutely perfect (and peaceful) as I did my run at 6:30 am Saturday morning.  I never run that early at home.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this coming week brings.  I have until tomorrow to decide if I want to run that race at the Island park that was cancelled earlier this summer, and then the annual Harvest Festival 5K with my family is this weekend.  This is usually the weekend that we put our fall decorations out too (and maybe close the pool).

Tell me how you spent your Labor Day weekend. -M

Thank you to Wendy and Holly for letting us share our week with them.

  1. Glad you had some good weather for your trip! I've been opting for the treadmill occasionally because the humidity has just been so intense.

  2. I ran inside once this summer because it was just too ridiculous to even think about running outside. Glad to see you were able to escape the heat and get some nice miles in.

  3. I used the treadmill quite a bit, and to offset it I tried to be outside a lot too. Sometimes it was just unbearable. My community's pool is now closed, and I've been getting the fall decorations out. It's small things, and it's fun!

  4. No indoor running for me, but I did do a 20-minute power walk a couple weeks ago because it was pouring down rain and storming. But I was able to get outside later that day for a real run LOL

  5. I've never been to the Finger Lakes. I hear it's beautiful up there! If I had my own treadmill, I may have opted to run on it more this summer. But, all I have is the old machines at the Y so .... I've been sweating it out in the great outdoors. UGH.

  6. I love your little frame around the weekly wrap badge - so creative! Have fun at your next few races. I've sort of fizzled out with my late summer racing plans due to some traveling conflicts.

  7. The Finger Lakes area is so beautiful! I am so un-smooth with dance moves, Zooma is really frustrating for me!

  8. I've only tried Zumba once and that was on a cruise so I can't tell you if it changes. I too was on the treadmill this week. The heat has been ridiculous, although we got a welcome break from it. As soon as it cooled off I wanted to go get mums and pumpkins but I held back. A couple more weeks and I will!

  9. The weekend with your friends in NY sounds fabulous! I've never tried Zumba. I have zero coordination so that's not a good workout for me! Hah! Great job with your workouts this week!

  10. The Zumba class on the boardwalk looks like fun! I used to do zumba a lot a few years ago and it's such a good workout, and fun too!

  11. I assure you, it was NOT cool here until Friday. :) Up until Friday it was still super hot & humid! Finger lakes are so lovely.

Zumba really just depends on who's teaching. Some will have dances that repeat, others won't (although it's been a long time since I've done it).I'm a terrible dancer but I enjoy Zumba!

  12. The lake trip sounds fun, and that's a beautiful view! I haven't done Zumba in a while but from what I remember, the dances do change each class but the types of moves used are the same so it becomes easier to follow once the moves and prompts are familiar.

  13. Sounds like a really fun holiday week! I didn't go to the beach at all this summer...well I did go to the Bahamas, but that doesn't count, haha!

It can be miserable running indoors but it's good to have as a backup when the weather gets rough! It's so weird that the weather right now is so "cold"...I almost miss the 80's and 90's!

  15. The lake house sounds right up my alley! I've never tried a Zumba class but my sister used to go all the time. She loved all the dancing...I don't think I'd be very good at it. What do you do to "close" your pool? We keep ours ready year round and just stop swimming when the water is too cold. Thanks for linking!

  16. What a fun week! Zumba and a break from the heat and all kinds of fun fitness in there...I have never been to the Finger Lakes, but it looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

  17. Finger Lakes are amazing at this time of year or a few weeks later when grapes in season

  18. Cool, I didn't know you went to the Finger Lakes! Where did you stay? I would say if you kept going to the same instructor, you would start to learn the dances. But a good instructor would put some new dances in from time to time!
