Weekly Wrap...May 27

Welcome to the last Weekly Wrap of May! How is that even possible?

I'm feeling quite refreshed as we head into June. I'm going to be embarking on something new this month which fills me with both trepidation and excitement at the same time. I'm not ready to share quite yet because I haven't got all the details nailed down.  School is done this week so that will give me more time to prepare!

I thought this past week would be a relaxing one. Scott was away for the week so I thought it would be just me and Baylee Chillin, but it ended up being busier than expected. (Hence no pictures for the week).

I had off School on Monday morning and I wanted to sleep in. I purposely did not even set my alarm but it ended up that I got up at 6:30 am anyway.  After taking care of Baylee, I putzed around deciding what I should do ( I don't normally have a weekday morning off so this was a treat).  I decided to go down to the Island and go for a run.

On weekdays I can't run until the afternoons, so I usually need to rush down to the island so I can get my run in before the soccer kids get there. On this morning (since it was a school day) I figured I'd have the place to myself.  That was not the case. There was a bunch of people there walking.  I didn't go into the woods since I figured the path would be damp since it was still early. I stayed on the path around the soccer field and surprised myself with three miles!

Afterwards I went home, cleaned the pool, did some house work, and then showered and got ready to go to work.   When I got home from work, I changed clothes and met my sister at the island again for another three miles.  I guess this day was the extent of my workouts this week.  The following day I found out my dad was having surgery so every day after work was spent with him.  Oh, except I did mow grass on Friday (because Scott was away).  I thought the riding mower had stalled on me (turns out it was a user error), so I ended up push mowing the entire yard! My yard is not flat and it was so stinking hot out. It took me over two hours and when I finished I thought that process was harder than my last half marathon!  So that definitely was a workout and I'm quite surprised I wasn't sore afterwards!

I'm looking forward to having another day off tomorrow (Memorial Day Monday), and spending time with friends and family picnic-ing.   With Monday off and just a 2 full days of school left I know this week is going to fly by!  Summer here we come!   -M

Thank you to Wendy and Holly for hosting the Weekly Wrap!

  1. Your Monday sounds like my every day since I retired! I taught for 301 years, loved every minute of it, but am loving retirement more! :)

  2. With a house full of men, I never get to mow the grass. And now the hubs has bought a fancy mower that I'm scared to operate. It's nice to be refreshed as you embark on something new. Can't wait for the details! Thanks for linking!

    1. Haha, I use to be intimidated with the riding mower so I would push mow. I enjoy the mowing though.

  3. I hope your Dad's ok.

I don't mow. Never have, never plan to, if Mr. Judy can't do it we're hiring someone.

Tomorrow I'm off to a picnic with my parents -- let's hope the rain stays away so we can actually eat outside.

  4. I hope your dad is doing well! I'm glad you got to spend that time with him.

I do all the mowing - but that's because my husband isn't here to be forced to. haha. Actually, I don't mind it. I told him when he comes home, I'll still do the mowing but he has to do all the edging and help with the weeding. I think that's totally a fair trade!

I'm excited to hear your news!

    1. I don't always get to mow unless my husband is gone for a few days. Although during the summer I try to mow since I am home during the day. It saves him time.

  5. I hope your dad is doing better. I did some gardening work, and I've never mowed the lawn. Luckily, I don't have grass with my townhouse.

  6. I hope your Dad's doing ok.
I helped the Hubby do the yard work Monday. He did the weed wacking and I mowed, half push mower(around the house and hilly bits) then the rest with the rider.

    1. Weed wacking is one thing I've never done. However, I have been hit in the leg by a blade of grass that was wacked and that hurts!

  8. I have mowed the lawn ONCE, and it's definitely not something I enjoy. I guess it's good cross-training LOL, and it's time outside, though.

  9. I grew up mowing the lawn. We lived in the country and I used a tractor! I've never mastered the push mower and the only time I mowed using one, I tore up the lawn. My husband banished me from mowing forever. Oh well!

  14. Hooray for summer! I will say, I do not envy my friends who are teachers during the month of May. It's gotta be tiring having all the work as well as end of school programs, workdays, etc, and dealing with kids who are just ready to be done. I know you guys "get summers off", but you work more during the other 9.5 months to make up for it, and it's not like you all "really" get that off because you're busy recovering from the previous year and preparing for the next.

I hope your dad is recovering well! I have actually never mowed a lawn. I have trouble cranking and pushing the mower. I tried with a riding lawn mower at my parents house a few times, but it has a safety feature that prevented me from riding it because I'm small (It thought I was a kid, lol). Thankfully I have a husband who mows the lawn!

  16. Having 3 brothers growing up, mowing was never something I had to do. Now we live in a maintained neighborhood so still no mowing. My high schooler had one final last week and is otherwise done with school. This is middle schooler's final week. Bring on summer!

  17. I miss mowing the lawn! When Paul wasn't able to, I did all the lawn mowing for a couple summers. But now he can do it. I hope your dad is okay and is recovering well. I'm very excited to find out what your new adventure is this month!

When is your dad having surgery?

  19. Push mowing is a beastly workout - especially since you have a hilly yard! I’m excited to hear the news when you’re ready to share about your upcoming adventure! Hope everything is okay with your dad... It is great that he has you to support him.
