Weekly Wrap...April 1

This week started out with cool temps but ended up being beautiful by the end of the week.  Here's how my week went.

Sunday- After running 7 miles on Sunday I finally went and got a well-deserved massage. The lady that I usually go to was actually on vacation so I went to someone else who was just as good, and didn’t hurt me like my usual lady does. It was definitely a relaxing massage with just the right pressure. It was pretty cold and windy out so I didn’t do too much the rest of the day except for catching up with some tv shows.

Monday- I didn’t sleep well the night before. The wind just wouldn’t let up and I heard it howling pretty much throughout the night. I finally decided to get up and it was early enough that I made it to two classes before work, Body Step and body Pump. After taking two classes and working all day, I wasn’t about to go for a run after work, besides it was still pretty windy and cold out.

Tuesday- It was my day off so I decided to sleep in. Since it was my day off I knew I wanted to go for a long run. I ended up doing 11 miles. This was my longest run post marathon and I actually felt pretty good throughout the run. I ran on my local trail mid-afternoon. It was pretty quiet except for a few squirrels scampering amongst the bushes. It seems like everything is always amplified when you are out in the woods by yourself and you can hear every little thing. Also I didn’t have one of my ear buds in so I could hear things more than I usually do. It was in broad daylight but I won’t lie that I looked back a few times thinking there was something or someone behind me. Any time I would pass a person walking or running I would think, I wonder why they are out here at this time of day, they must have a flexible schedule like mine.

Wednesday- I did another Body Pump class and ran an easy 5 miles before going into work. It was finally starting to warm up.

Thursday- Today was the warmest day so far this week. It was already in the mid 60s when I woke up and was expected to get into the 80s later. I wanted to get a run in right way because I had plans that afternoon. I did 7 miles in the beautiful weather. I am glad that I got up early enough to complete it because it did get quite warm later in the day. After my run I had plans to meet a friend for brunch.

After brunch I decided to treat myself to a Duck Donut, because after all I did run 7 miles. It was a new spring flavor they were featuring, a key lime donut with a graham cracker crumble. I really wanted to like this and I did for the most part, but I wish they would have more of the key lime flavoring on it. There was too much graham cracker that was taking away from the key lime flavor.

Friday- It was another beautiful day and I did 6 easy miles before work. That evening I tried out IFly. It is a simulation of a sky diving experience (well so I heard). I will write more of an in depth review of my experience later this week.

Saturday- It was another long day at work which started out too early to get a run in beforehand. After work I opted out of my runs for some girl time instead. I was feeling a bit guilty for not getting a run in because they offered free lunch this day and even brought in duck donuts!

And that's a wrap! I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy Easter! -L

  7. Nice job on the 11 miler. I know exactly what you mean about the noises in the woods. I had my dogs out in them yesterday and kept thinking something was crashing through. EEK. Our local donut shop at the beach serves key lime filled donuts. They are so yummy. Thanks for linking!

  9. Nice job on the 11 miles. I love key lime things, and I'll add granola to key lime yogurt. The granola tastes like the crust.

  10. I finally got a sports massage this week too and wow, it hurt! I have a lot of tight spots and she really worked on them. I should mention that it was a Thai massage ---> so no sympathy ;) It was a good hurt. I'll go back...some day!

  11. Oh. I went to Duck Donuts today! I picked the same one for the 1/2 dozen I got but my favorite is the plain cinnamon sugar so I had that one. It's hard to find the right degree of pressure for a massage. Sometimes I think they have to be uncomfortable to be effective but sometimes I want a massage that feels good at the time and not just later.

  13. Yum, I love Duck Donuts! Though I can see how that would have been too much graham cracker topping since it seems to pretty much cover the whole top.

  17. Ooh, can't wait to read about the iFly experience! We have one by us and my boyfriend wants me to do it with him...I'm really terrified of heights though, it's really not my thing at all.
