First Week of 2018

Welcome to another edition of the weekly wrap.

This seemed to be a short week, so I actually remembered something from each day (which rarely happens). My friend Rebecca does an end of the month post called "A Sentence a day" which I like, but it would be challenging for me to only use one sentence so I am going to try this format for the week and see how it goes!

Sunday (New Years Eve) - We had plans for over a month to go to a dinner party with some friends but then an hour before we had to cancel. I kind of felt like a jerk for doing so but Scott had been sick all week and did not feel like he could handle being at a fancy restaurant all evening. I completely understood. We did go to a party later that night at my cousins house and it was so nice to see all my family again and play games. We taught my pappy a new card game and he caught on real well! Check out that cool champagne cake my cousin made. It was fabulous!

Monday (New Years Day) - Happy to have another day off work! My sister made us a traditional New Years day dinner of pork, saurkraut, and potatoes. My dad, however slipped and fell out at his pond and had to go to the ER. He came home with three staples in his head. Ouch!

Tuesday - Back at work but after work we were still busy. I had to finally go for groceries since we've been eating snacks and holiday leftovers for the last week. Then we went to an 85th Birthday party for my Pappy!

Wednesday- I tried to get my iFit for the treadmill and bike up and running again but iFit customer service is less than ideal. I still don't have it running correctly and my subscription is soon going to expire! #Wasteofmoney

Thursday- I stopped at the store to pick up some more fleece lined tights since we are in the middle of this cold snap. I ended up picking up some pumpkin spice popcorn and french vanilla hot chocolate.

Friday - No School. I always have these big ideas of how much stuff  I'm going to get accomplished when I don't have to go to work. The only thing I did was sew a cover for my bench and it literally took me 5 hours and the bench wasn't even that big!  I didn't have a pattern so it was a lot of trial and error! The corners are what gave me the most trouble.

Saturday- We spent the day shopping. When we got home we ended up getting into the tv series "The Good Doctor". Anyone else watch it? We watched the first 3 episodes and are hooked.

And that's a wrap!  I hear we are suppose to get a heat wave this week so perhaps I will try to get outside to run. Depending on how that goes, I may sign up for a race for next month. We'll see. More on that later. -M

We will be linking up with Hohoruns and MissSippiPiddlin for their weekly wrap.

  1. Thats so scary about your dad! Glad it sounds like he is ok. I usually end up being so unproductive on snow days. Sometimes it just feels nice to have a surprise day off and do nothing!

  2. Funny thing is, we didn't even get any snow! Yes it was nice to just have off though. Always nice to have another long weekend!

  3. I hope your dad is feeling better!

We didn't get much snow either--just enough to cover the ground! But bring on the heat wave!

    1. We didn't even get that. I think school was cancelled just because of the cold and wind.

  4. I love the Good Doctor! He is so "good". LOL. We like to play Left Right Center when there's a big family gathering. It's fun and easy. I'm glad your Dad wasn't seriously hurt. Thanks for linking!

    1. What is that Left Right Center game? I heard another blogger talk about that too. We played Pitt.

  5. Wow, too bad about your dad...glad he's doing alright, but how scary! The hubby and I just started watching "The Crown" last night...and three episodes later, I guess it's safe to say we've found a new show to marathon watch. We'd been watching Shameless (I think we got through almost four seasons), and I just cannot handle it anymore. The show is funny, but in a really sad sort of way.

  8. I used to love snow days so that I could do absolutely nothing, haha! I love The Good Doctor! I'm so happy I can watch it on HULU.

  9. Glad your dad is OK. I understand about not being productive. I could've gotten stuff done in NYD, but I ended up doing only a couple cleaning chores. I vacuumed the kitchen, but I did that because my feet could feel stuff on the floor.

  10. I love that cake! It's so fun! I hope that your dad heals quickly! It sounds like you were really productive! I feel like I've totally gone in to hibernation mode the last two weeks. All I really want to do is sleep!

  11. I'm glad you're dad is okay. I'm the same way with days off. I always have these grand plans to accomplish so much, but it mostly results in Grey's Anatomy reruns.

  12. I'm the same way with days off... I have all these grand plans and I end up getting distracted doing something and nothing on my list gets done.

  14. Wow! I hope your dad is doing OK. So scary. We are also in the middle of a cold snap and I can't wait for it to end! I don't think we are going to have a warm front like you are, but hopefully it gets a little bit more appealing to be outside soon.

  16. Scary about your dad, but I'm glad it was only 3 staples. Your grocery trips sound like mine, I always end up getting something extra :) I'm back to my busier work schedule this week now that schools are back in session.

  18. Your poor dad! I'm glad he's okay. I'm soooooo excited for the heat wave we are getting this week. I'll be able to take down my outdoor Christmas decorations. Most of them are staked into the ground and the ground is frozen now!

  19. Sorry about your dad falling and needing stitches, glad he is okay otherwise. WHat kind of tights did you end up getting and how do you like them? I am thinking of getting another pair of thermal tights. Happy birthday to your pappy!

    1. HI Christy! I just got fleece tights for work. They are not running tights. Although I do have a pair of fleece lined running tights from RBX and I absolutely love them!

  20. I never seem to have time for TV. I have heard good things about the Good Doctor. I need to DVR it.

Glad nothing was broken when your Dad fell.

  21. Sounds like a busy week! Glad your dad is on the mend. My family also has pork and sauerkraut and this was my first year away from them, so my husband made it. Still tasty! Have a great week. :)

  22. Ack, I hate to hear that your dad slipped on ice - I worry about that same thing with my parents, as they live in an area where ice is common over winter. Hope he feels better soon.

Fleece tights? I never would have thought I'd want something like that until I ran in "feels like" 11 degree weather. My legs were burning, they were so cold.

  23. Hope Scott and your dad are doing much better (what an awful fall - ouch!!). Happy Birthday to Pappy! I laughed when I saw the part about having big ideas when you have some time off. That was me this festive season. I had about three weeks off and had the grandest ideas to declutter the house, etc etc etc. I am back at work and VERY little was actually done!
