What does your Amazon list say about you?

So, unless you were living under a rock, you probably heard that Amazon Prime day was this week! Yup, it started Monday night and lasted into the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

I for one was very excited about Prime day because this was the first year I've actually been a Prime member! Let the shopping begin..........!

Except, I searched and searched and there wasn't anything I was wanting that was a Prime day deal.
No Mizunos, No dress shoes, no home furnishings, not even any beauty supplies. Womp Womp!

I guess I saved money though.

For today's post, I thought it would be fun to share what Amazon thinks we should buy!  What is on your "recommended" list?   The recommended list is obviously based off of your shopping habits on Amazon. Would you buy the recommended items?

Of course Mizunos are always my top pick because I indeed have purchased a pair of Mizunos from Amazon and I'm always checking to see if there are any good deals on the colors and style I like. The WaveRider 18's are my favorite and they are becoming harder to find.  This recommendation is Spot on!

I am always searching for dress shoes too. My favorites for work are the Anne Klein Sport shoes.  I have bought shoes that are similar to those first pair but would probably not buy the others. Good recommendations by Amazon though.

Amazon could have done a much better job recommending books to me. Yes, I admit several years ago I bought a book for school about Library media, and I DID buy a book about making candy creations (also for school), but that that was a long time ago. I have since searched and bought other books from  Amazon. I would not purchase any of these items again.

I'm not sure where these recommendations are coming from.  I know I bought my sister a season of Dawson's Creek DVDs but that had to be about 15 years ago and I'm not sure I even ordered them from Amazon.  I've never seen one episode of One Tree Hill not have I ever watched Dynasty.  I think  maybe Amazon is recommending Dynasty to me because I have bought several seasons of Dallas on Amazon and this show is similar. Yes, I would like to watch Dynasty some day but do I have time to get into another series?

These suggestions look pretty accurate too. I think I may have actually read that Beth Harbison book "Think, Rich, Pretty" although I did not get it from Amazon.

What would be on your Amazon recommendation list?  -M

  1. Its pretty funny to see what Amazon recommends based on past searches and purchases. I also get a lot of shoes on my recommended item lists. Also some really random stuff is always on there! Especially if I ever buy things for work.

    1. I'm always searching for shoes (mostly for work) so that's probably why I get those.

  2. I don't think my Amazon recommendations are at all accurate! I still get recommendations for toys because I purchased one as a gift. I don't pay attention to them.

  3. Amazon keeps wanting me to purchase inflatable guitars again. I bought t hrm for a school performance months ago, yet Amazon lways advertises t hrm to me. I did not buy anything on prime day either but I have been using it a lot this summer!

    1. What? You and Paul don't want some inflatable guitars at your house?

  4. I've been an Amazon Prime member for years and LOVE it. I didn't find anything worthwhile to buy either on Amazon Prime Day. Honestly, I never noticed the recommended list. Now I am curious what it says about me.

  5. Since our whole family uses the same account, we get some crazy stuff pop up on our lists.

    1. Do you have a family account? My husband and I both have our own but recently we linked them some how. Not sure how.

  6. I have never even looked at my recommendations! My hubby and daughter share my account so lord only knows what the pop ups would be! I should look next time!

  7. I honestly do not do much on Amazon, and am not a Prime member. I'm probably missing out on some great deals, but I'm also saving a lot of time (by NOT "shopping"...I fear I'd get sucked in and spend hours there). I'm probably saving money, too, by not buying a bunch of stuff I technically don't need. That's my story ;-)

    1. I would rather spend time online searching for things rather than driving around to stores. But I can definitely see where shopping online can lead to buying things you don't need. I try not to let that happen though!

  8. It's crazy how much Amazon knows about us! Since I've bought text books for my kids, I get lots of heavy recommendations. Dynasty definitely came from Dallas. I think it was a spin-off back in the day!

    1. I need to find time to watch Dynasty but I don't want to invest in buying the collection like I did for Dallas!

  10. I've been a Prime member for years, but I've yet to find a deal on Amazon Prime Day. I think it's basically hype. A few bloggers recommended things like socks, which I can always use, but when I looked, I just wasn't seeing the deals.

I do love Amazon though. And the book recommendations for me are usually pretty good!

  12. It seems they have a funny algorithm!

Funny story... Roger and My sister buy all my amazon things! they both have prime, and I don't... so, I will randomly send them links for what to buy for me, and then pay them for it. If I had amazon prime, I would always be buying books!

  13. I buy a lot of books in the same genre, so the recommendations are quite accurate. The book I'm reading now came from the recommendation list. I use those lists to add things onto my wishlist so I can keep track of what I want to order.

    1. I agree that Amazon can give some good suggestions. I've never bought a book they've suggested yet.

  14. I get some of the most random things on my suggested list.
But I buy EVERYTHING on Amazon so its no surprise they just suggest everything/anything figuring I'll buy it ;)

  15. My husband and I share an account so our list is like Dr Jekll and My Hyde - running stuff (me), car parts (him), health foods and vitamins(me), old TV and movies (him) and on and on and on ;)

    1. My husband and I have our accounts linked but yet they are separate and we have separate logins. Not sure how that is done though because I asked him to set it up. Perhaps you can look into that.

  16. The only thing I bought on Prime day was straws, because they were in my cart already (for a baby shower) and they went on sale. Of course I had to buy something else because they were an "add on" so I bought my K-cup coffee. Woo! I rarely look at what Amazon recommends for me - I probably need to just to see what I'm missing out on, LOL.

  17. I didn't find any deals on Prime Day either. Right now my recommendations are filled with pet-related items thanks to my new puppy :)

  20. My Amazon list says I want a TON of books - that will all probably just sit on my bedside table.

  21. Right now, my Amazon list things I want a lot of things I actually have no interest in... because of a mis-timed click on prime day. Oh and dog food.
