Weekly Wrap July 16

It's time for the weekly wrap. This week went by so quickly. Maybe because I feel like it was such a productive one!

Sunday I did a 17 mile bike ride on the rail trail with my mom.

We rode to the end of the trail to the park where the 4th of July race took place and then rode all the way back to where we started. We stopped at an ice cream shop along the way but the line was like 40 people deep. We decided we could just load up our bikes and drive to another shop on the way home.

After getting ice cream, we had to go take our Peddle boat out of the water so my dad could take it home and wash it. We have it launched in the water at my Pap's house.  My mom and I had to peddle it UPSTREAM so we could get it into the launch so we could remove it. Trying to peddle against the current does not make your legs happy after just biking 17 miles!

Monday I wanted to start the week out right with a run, but I just didn't. I felt so achy. I stayed home and painted more trim around my door (and waited for the professional painters who never showed up).  Monday night I was so achy I couldn't fall back asleep. I ended up going downstairs to sleep on the couch. I was surprised to see Baylee laying beside me when I woke up. She sure loves her momma!

Tuesday was quite productive. I went to the paint store to pick out more paint colors and then headed to the trail for 4 steamy miles!

The sun was not out in all its glory because it was overcast so at least that felt good but all the humidity in the air did not feel good.  After the run, I rushed back home to shower and then went to a massage appointment.

There is a spa only 5 minutes from my house and I did not know about it.  The best part was that because I agreed to have an intern give me my massage, I got an entire hour for only $35 (plus tip)! Isn't that awesome?  Now if I was injured or had a major problem I would not have agreed to have the intern work on me.  But this worked out fabulous and to tell you the truth this massage was better than any I've gotten at any of the fancy resorts I've stayed at!

After the massage it was pool time with my favorite girl.

Wednesday was more working around the house.

Thursday-  I was up and out the door by 8 am and thought I could beat some of the heat.
I ran the 2 mile loop by my home and it certainly felt every bit like 89 degrees (or more). I made it home in time just to see the painters arriving at my house! That made me happy.

Friday was a rainy day so I stayed in with Baylee and did more housework and made food.

We ended up celebrating a friend's birthday later that evening at our house. I made Keylime pie for the first time and it actually turned out pretty good!

Saturday
Scott and I were on the go all day. we did get to walk at the marina, but it was actually more of a stroll as we watched the boats. We came home a cooked out while watching Baylee swim.

Around 8pm I decided to go to my island and do a 3 mile run. I did most of  the run through the woods and because it was so late in the evening, I really thought that I would see some deer, but I didn't.

What was the least amount you ever paid for a massage? What is the latest you've ever ran? I actually plan to do more late runs this summer. They are so peaceful. -M

We are linking up with Tricia, Holly, and the guest host.

    1. I am very lucky that my mom lives near by so we can do things like that together.

  2. I don't think I've ever had a "cheap" massage. How great it was a good one. I've had plenty of pricey ones that were marginal at best. How fun to ride with your mom!

    1. Massages sure are pricey aren't they? I think I've found a gem.

  3. At the race today, in the VIP tent there were massages! I didn't sign up tho. I kind of have FOMO about that.

    1. I always sign up for post race massages because they usually have those good deals, $1 a minute!

  5. I prefer early morning summer runs the most (when I actually CAN run, that is LOL), but I also like running in the evening...just when it's starting to get dark. It's so tranquil! Oh my...that key lime pie looks killer delish!!!

    1. Baylee will only lay in bed with me for so long but for some reason she'll lay on the couch for long times at a shot. Perhaps she thinks she owns the couch since that is probably where she spends most of her time when we are not here!

  9. That massage sounds perfect, what a deal!! The last time i had one was a prenatal massage, it was good but they were too gentle! Nice job in the steamy miles this week!

  10. You had a nice, busy week! I wish I could score a massage at that price! I used to do Groupons to save money but it's been a long time.

  11. night runs are so relaxing!! but I prefer them when it's warmer outside. I think the latest I have done a run was when I did a Glow 5K that started at 9pm.

    The keylime pie looks delicious!

  12. I would have been too tired to run, too, after biking for 17 miles AND pedaling a boat upstream! Sounds like a really nice week and I hope you show some before and after pics of your newly-painted rooms!

  13. I've had this room decorated the same way for over 10 years and can you believe I only have one picture? I should have been better with documenting Before and after pictures of our home.

  14. Sweet Baylee. :)

I don't really like to run in the evenings because then I have a hard time falling asleep. It's so hard to squeeze the runs in during the summer. I got out there at 8:30 this morning, which was basically too late on a humid day, but I've got to get the dogs walked & the furkids fed.

And besides, there's been so much rain in the evenings!

I think maybe $50 is the least I've paid for a massage? $35 is awesome!

  15. I'm never out late, so I don't see wildlife on my runs. Friday after Hamlet, I did see a coyote in an open field near my neighborhood. There's a colony of prairie dogs in that field, so I know that coyote was thinking food.

  16. I've actually never had a massage!! I know, that's terrible. I've run at sunset and then completely in the dark to finish up a long run. All I had was my phone flashlight. Probably not the safest run but at least there wasn't much traffic! It is HOT here by 8 AM too!

  17. I can see the benefit of doing late evening runs in the summer, but I go to bed so early I just don't think I can do it! Unfortunately, even my very early morning runs are still really toasty. The humidity seems constant no matter what time of day it is. Hi, pretty Baylee!

  18. I do love an evening run during the summer! I'm a chicken though and won't run after dark alone. But the hubs and I have gone for a night run as late as 9:30 before! They really are so peaceful!

You'll have to share your key lime pie recipe on the blog ..I love it but have never attempted to make it myself.

  19. To be honest I really can't remember how much or how little I've paid for a massage. But it sounds like you got a really good deal! (that said, I get why you would not have chosen the intern, but we all have to start getting our experience somehow! ;) )

I have run quite late at times, depending on schedule, etc. I think 10pm is the latest I've gone out. We have full moon runs here - I hope to participate soon in something like that!

  20. You had a great week! That pie looks so good. It turned out beautifully and I imagine it tasted just as good.
