My Favorite Running Duds

Because I love running in athletic skirts you may think my favorite piece of running apparel would naturally be one of my skirts from Runingskirts.com.  It is true that I do like wearing those particular running skirts at races for various reasons.  However, I think the one piece that has slowly became my favorite "every day" running piece has been the
black Darci Skirted Knicker from PrAna.

This is a very light weight athletic skirt attached to a pair of running capris. Like most of PrAna's clothing, the capris are made out of recycled polyester and are hands down the softest running pants I own.  I think the reason that these capris (and many of their other items) are so extremely soft is because they are made from organic cotton, natural fibers, and recycled materials.  They are not as thick as the traditional compression capris but they are a staple in my workout wardrobe, especially during spring and fall when the temperature here on the East coast is so temperamental. The skirt displays a reflective logo on the front and on the back, along with one zippered pocket large enough for a key or some cash. Athletic gear that has hidden pockets is always a plus in my book.
I'm wearing the PrAna skirted capris and the Quinn Lightweight Chakara top at last year's April Fools race along the boardwalk

Another piece from PrAna that I have been enjoying is the Quinn Lightweight Chakara top.
This is  PrAna’s most popular yoga top, but I've been wearing it on runs and to the gym.
Like the capris this top is one of the softest athletic tops I own.  It is a thicker fabric than some of my other running tanks so I was skeptical at first, but the fabric’s ability to keep moisture on the surface makes it easier for the sun and air to lift moisture out and promote evaporation. This makes it a win!
This is PrAna's Quinn sun dress in the bold geometric pattern called “Blue Gardenia”.  It is made with the same soft recycled polyester as the knickers.  This dress is SO SUPER SOFT. Sorry, I know I sound like a broken record by saying how soft these items are. I admit I haven't worn this dress yet but because of how soft it is, I am thinking it is going to be a summer favorite!  If I can find a little cardi or small jacket, I may even be able to wear it to work when the weather stays warm.
*I reviewed these pieces for my Fashion Column that I write and since I liked them well enough I thought I would share them on the blog too!  -M

We will be linking up with the gals from TOTR.

  1. I have never tried a running skirt before, but I really want to, as it would make a change from shorts or leggings.

  2. That dress is darling! I'm already thinking that I would have liked something like that in Hawaii for throwing on over a swimsuit when we were out and about. :) -C

    1. Even though I hadn't worn it out, I had tried it on a few times and it has a shelf bra built in and is not that easy to slip on and off (at least not for me....lol).

  8. I recently got a catalog from Prana and really liked some things. Good to know the fabric is really nice. I'm a sucker for really soft fabrics! I'll have to try something out from Prana for sure.

  9. Prana do make some great clothes. They are a little more expensive, but in the past I've noticed they do last longer.
I own a pair of hiking pants from them, I love them. Granted I don't fit in them right now, more inititative to drop some weight before summer and hiking season begins:)
Love the sundress. Makes me want to pull mine out and take a cruise, LOL

  18. The only skirts that I've run in are Sparkle Athletic skirts that go over capris and I only wear them at races. I keep thinking I need to try a more substantial one with pockets and leggings attached.
