Disneyland Paris Half Marathon

If you are a Run Disney fan then you probably already got the e-mail or heard about the exciting event going on in Paris in 2016.

We've heard speculation of this event for some time now but we didn't hear the official announcement from Disney until we were standing in the corrals during Princess this year.

I have always wanted to go to Disneyland Paris and running there sounds like a great opportunity but I'm still not sold quite yet.  Of course the distance thing gets to me. I'm very nervous about long flights, not to mention I don't speak a lick of French nor do I understand it. My sister has already done the Disneyland Paris thing and said it was only  so so and has no desire to go back. Well, there goes my run Disney companion!

For those of you who are not on the fence about it, here are the details:

Event dates :
 September 23-25, 2016

Events:
Sept 23: Expo starts
Sept 24: 5K race through Disneyland Park and Disney Studios, Kids race, Pasta Party
Sept 25: Half Marathon

Run Disney Packages will be available for booking THIS October!  (October 6, 2015), If I do make the leap to DL Paris this is the way I will go. DL Paris has several "Disney" Hotels.   Disneyland Hotel, Disney Hotel New York, Disney's Newport Bay Club, Disney's Sequoia Lodge, Disney's Hotel Cheyenne, Disney's Hotel Santa Fe, and Disney's Davey Crockett Ranch. They all look amazing with really fun themes! You can check them out HERE.  Of course there are some "Partner" or Good neighbor hotels too.

Actual race registration opens January 12, 2016. (hmm, I think I will be in WDW for Marathon weekend then).   Speaking of Marathon weekend. I hear there is going to be an additional medal given for folks who run a WDW half and the DL Paris half in the same calendar year!  I'm sure that will be a coveted medal and quite a beauty (seeing as it will be at Sleeping Beauty's Castle...hmmm)

If you want to keep up with the latest news about the DLP Half Marathon you can sign up HERE.

So now I want to know, Do you have or do you know anyone who has experience with any of the DLP hotels?  I am intrigued with at least that aspect of it!   -M

  1. This is the first that I'm hearing about a challenge medal for the WDW Half and Paris Half. Very interesting!

  2. The Sleeping Beauty castle is beautiful. I wonder how quickly this will sell out. Is there a large International presence at the Disneyland or Disneyworld races?

    1. Not sure what the actual percentage is but there is quite a few international runners. I know the winners of those "disney magic runs" have got free entry into the wdw races in the past.

  3. I love Disney and I love Paris, but I have no desire to run that race. My sister has been to Disneyland Paris and she was so-so about it, too. Plus, she said it was even more expensive to eat, etc, at the Paris parks than here. In fact, I've heard stories from European travelers that have said it is less expensive to bring their families to Disney World in Orlando than stay in Europe and go to Disney there.

I have considered one day running the Paris marathon, but I don't see myself doing a Paris Disney race. (Side note- it's pretty easy to get around Paris even if you don't speak French) :)

  4. I'm definitely in for this, but will only spend a couple days at DL Paris and then move on to other places. We have been fortunate and visited Paris a number of times, but if it was my first time, it would not include this race.

  5. The allure and hype surrounding this race is insane, but I think I will have to pass :(

  6. You think this will sell out in an hour or something! I bet people will be jumping at it! To crazy for me I think!

  7. I have always wanted to do a Disney race, but every time I am in Florida, the date is off (I need to plan better). So I am definitely doing the Disneyland Paris race next year ! DLP is 30 minutes from where I live and I have already signed up for the information, but I didn't know about the hotel registration date. I will be there ! You should come. There is no allure or hype in Paris... yet. I think it will be many international people, I don't see French people loving this kind of race. Hope to see you there, keep me posted !

  8. I'm definitely doing this - provided I get in, of course. I'm very nervous about registration and how popular it might be. It kills me that I can't make plans until the registration opens though!
