A Peek in Our Week

Happy Sunday Folks!

This week has been a tough one for me. The weather has finally got warmer and everywhere I drove this week I would see runners. They were running in town, running across the bridge, and running on the road in front of my house.  This really gave me the itch to put my running shoes on and get out there. I resisted though because I know that it is still not my time yet! If I have any chance of making a full recover from this knee pain, I need to NOT RUN until I feel I am healed.

I have been continuing with my stretches that I learned from PT last year and have been wondering if I should even go back to PT for a few weeks. I suspect I will just get the same set of stretches to do, so I should just continue to do them on my own ( for free)!

I amped up my mileage on the bike this week. Last week I did 10, this week I did 16.6. I suppose I should aim for 20 this coming week.

My social media feeds were blowing up this weekend with all the folks going to the premiere of the Cinderella film. I was planning on going but to tell you the truth, I was just exhausted on Friday and just wanted to spend my evening on the couch watching Amazing Race ( exciting I know..lol)!
I think I might try to sneak in a matinee one day this week.  Yea, I will be the adult in the movie theatre by myself and I'm okay with that. I've never actually done that before, but I think it will be fine. FYI:  When I was a child, Cinderella was the first movie I ever saw in the theater.  -M

How did your week go? Have you ever gone to a movie by yourself? Do you remember the first movie you ever went to the theater to see?

  1. It's so hard seeing runners out in the nice weather when you can't run- I can definitely relate! But very smart of you to wait to run until you're feeling better. If your PT isn't giving you new stuff to do when you go, then you could probably do your stretches at home. I've been getting different exercises each week, so it makes me feel like its worth going (plus they do deep tissue work on my tight muscles).

  2. I go to the movies by myself in the summer pretty regularly. There are usually several movies that I can't talk anyone else into, and frankly, I have the time to go in the middle of the day, so I do. The interesting thing is seeing men come in alone all dressed in business clothes. You just know they claimed to have some off-site meeting just to get out of the office and they're killing a couple of hours at the movies!
I'm told the first movie I saw in the theater was Lady and the Tramp, and that when the dogs started howling in the pound, I started crying right along with them.

  3. I want to see the Cinderella movie too but just can't find the time! It might be on my list of rentals...but it looks great!

  4. I think my first movie was Bambi!

It's so hard to be injured...seems like everywhere you look people are running! Last year when I broke my foot, my doc let me ride my bike. That helped a ton. Just moving and getting my heart rate up was really good for me. I hope you heal quickly!

  5. So sorry that your knee is still causing you pain, but being smart and cross training is the right thing to do. I have not seen Cinderella yet, but hope to at some point. Everyone seems to love it and the reviews are good. Enjoy the warm weather taking that bike out for a spin.

  6. I will also be an adult going by myself - no shame!
I believe my first "movie theater movie" was Pinocchio - remember before VCRs and DVDs when you couldn't watch whatever you wanted whenever you wanted, and Disney would bring their movies back every seven years or so?

  7. I loved Cinderella, I thought it was really well done. Good job sticking with the cross training. Doing what you want and what is best for your body can be really difficult things.

  8. When you go to PT for so long you realize it's just as easy to do it on your own and save $$. But if you're struggling to do it daily, then ya going to the PT usually pushes people to get it done, when they aren't doing it on their own. So in your case, since your doing it, possibly if you keep seeing improvements then you can probably save the $!
I had wedding stuff on the weekend so I didn't get out to see Cinderella until earlier today. Oh I loved it! I hope you get to see it soon, any girl who loves Disney and princess will adore this movie!
I can't remember exactly what was my first movie in a theater. We had (have) a old fashion drive in theater here and they used to charge just $5 for a whole family in a car, so my parents took us to a few that way. I kind of wish I could remember which was my first, but I don't:(

    1. Oh and I go to the movies by myself all the time, do it once and it's easy as cake in the future, in fact you just look forward to it:) But definitely go during the middle of the day during the week!

  9. I hope that the PT is successful for you, I hate that your knee is giving you so much trouble!! I really want to go see Cinderella soon, but it may end up being a Netflix view for me!

  10. Yep, I've also been noticing a ton more runners out now that it's warmer. You are right to wait until you're completely healed, or else you risk making it worse.

  11. I go to the movies all the time by myself and love it! I usually go on Saturday mornings as the movies are way cheaper (and also a lot less crowded). Cinderella is definitely worth checking out!

and according to my mom, the first movie I ever saw in the theatre was Batman haha
