5 Things to Love about my New Running Item

The other day I went shopping at a discount department store and I found a great item. The Ifitness belt. I have seen these at many expos with the ladies jumping up and down at the booth proving that it doesn't bounce. I always thought this looked like a great product, but too expensive so I never purchased it. But when I found it for almost half the price that they usually sell them at, I couldn't pass it up. Anytime I find myself buying a new product for running, I always get excited to do my next run. After purchasing this, I knew that my next run would have to be a semi long one, since I don't wear anything on a 3 mile run. I ended up doing 8, which took little more than an hour, and was very please with this belt. Jeff Galloway says It's the only running belt you will ever need (well according to the tag on the belt). But I am beginning to think this is true. There are many great things about this belt.

1. It doesn't bounce-Even though I saw those ladies jumping up and down at the expo, I thought standing in one spot jumping up and down is different than actually taking it on a run. But I am happy to say, even with water bottles and nutrition in my zipper pocket, it doesn't bounce. The pocket is even big enough to fit any smartphone. There are even 2 loops on the outside of the belt for easy access to your GUs. The silicone grips on the inside prevents it from riding up.

2. It fits any size water bottle- It's nice to have that option, depending on how far you are running that day. There is even an elastic loop to put around the top of the water bottle to make it more secure.

3. Collapsible pockets- If you are not one for running with water bottles, you just zip it up. Then you have another pocket to put small things in. Pocket hand sanitizer would fit perfect in here.

4. Light weight- It is only 6.7 oz. That may seem heavier than other belts, but I think it's worth it. During my run I didn't feel like it was heavy at all. It was very comfortable. And it's nice to know that you have everything you need with you during a long run.

5.. Fits race bib- It even has toggles on the belt to place your race bib on. This is so nice to have that option so you don't have to make holes in your shirts with the safety pins. Also you know that it's going to lay straight. I don't know how many times I had to re pin my bib to my shirt to make it straight.

Do you own an Ifitness belt? If so what do you think about it?

  5. I got one when I started training for my half because I knew I would need water on my long runs, so I bought that solely based off Jeff Galloway's recommendation. it really is a great belt, though my older version doesn't have the zip up if you don't want the bottles.

    1. The zip ups do make it nice if you don't want to carry a water bottle you can put some other things in there. I like to put pocket sized hand sanitizer.

  6. I have a Nathan Hydration belt that I pretty much only use on runs that are over 10 miles. It works well enough for my purposes and doesn't bounce too much. I hate carrying anything extra with me, so most of the time I go without. Even in races I just depend on water stations for hydration and carry a few GUs with me (pinned to my capris).

    1. I have used a Nathan hydration belt as well, but the one I used the pocket was so small in the front I could barely put anything in it. I like that I can put my phone in the front pocket of this belt.

  11. I haven't seen this belt before but it looks really nice! There is nothing more annoying than a bouncy belt so that is great that it does stay put!

    1. It's sure not for everyone. You have to find what works for you. But I think you did with that backpack. I may have to check that out!

  16. How nice. I have a belt at a separate bib holder, so it would be nice if they were all in one!

  17. I also bring myself a belt bag, especially on long runs. They are really useful for me because I always bring myself some carbohydrate energy gels, jellied sweets and a large banana. I used to not bring any food with me during long runs, but then, I started to get cramps and it was really hard to cope up with it. A friend of mine told me that I might be getting cramps because my body is out of energy. Since bringing food with me, I haven't experience any more cramps and I am very thankful about it.
