The Blogging Process and What is Your Social Media Personality?

Good Morning Friends! Are you glad it is Friday? As always, we are linking up with the Friday 5 and the theme this week is "Goals".  I love that the bloggers that participate in the Friday link up are so varied and that everyone has a different take on the same topic.

We are going to talk about how we are able to maintain the goals of our blog while answering a few questions about our blogging process.

Earlier this week we were nominated by our friend Sara who blogs at Life Between the Miles ( isn't that a great title?) to answer some "behind the scene's" blogging questions about our blog and our writing process.

And here they are:

1) What are you working on?

We are currently working on trying to find a balance. We started off blogging only 3 days a week (M-W-F).  We have become so enthusiastic about our blog that more and more days have crept in. Some say that you should only blog when you have something worth while to say, of course every blogger thinks they have something worth while to say, right? So when the day comes that you think that we are just blogging about nonsense, please tell us (except for Thursday's. We like to have our  random "Thursday Thoughts" posts every once in a while)!   Some days we just need a break though so we are trying to throw those "break" days in every once in a while.

2) How does your work differ from others of it's type/genre?

As you know, there are two of us who work on this blog opposed to just one writer.  That sometimes makes it unique because our experiences are doubled. Between the both of us we are never lacking in content, that's for sure. We always feel like we have something to say. We always have someone to throw ideas off of. Each of us have our own opinions and our own unique voice.  By now, I think our readers can tell who writes which posts even if we forget to sign our initials at the end.

3) Why do you write what you do?

Everything we write we try to keep in alignment with what our blog is about. Sometimes this can be a struggle because we are not JUST a running blog, We are not JUST a travel and Disney blog. We have never made overnight oats and we are not on a vegan or on a Paleo diet, so are we allowed to call ourselves "Healthy Living" bloggers?  The line is so blurred?  But what we do know is that we love activity of all kinds. And that's mainly what our blog is about, staying active. And the "Fairytales" part, well that just refers to our stories and everything we love, our dogs, our traveling, our running, and yes even Disney!

4) How does your process work?

We both contribute content to our blog. We write about things as they happen or when we get an idea. We generally have a few posts waiting in our queue to go live. Some do, some never do. Some we actually forget about.  And then of course there are always those last minute ideas that we write the night before. If you're a blogger, you've had those right?

5)   We would love to hear about ALL of your blogging styles, especially if you share your blog with another blogger. We are suppose to nominate 3 other bloggers to answer these same questions in a post. We nominated  Amy from Mom's Magical Miles, April from Run the great Wide Somewhere, and Lauren from Lauren's Glass Slipper.  (this was so hard because there were like 15 more bloggers that we are interested in hearing about their writing process)

Lastly, if you are not a blogger, you can take this quiz : What is your Social Media Personality?

( if you are a blogger you can take the quiz too)

If you are a blogger can you briefly answer any of the above questions?  If your not a blogger, what was your Social Media Personality?

  1. As you know, we also have a blog with two writers. It makes it easier when one of us is traveling because the other can cover the blog. We also do different races and with a large gap in age range, have varied topics as well.

  2. That was a cool quiz! I'm an open sharer...not sure if that's good or bad haha

  3. I love that you take a "break" day either when you don't have something to write about or don't have time to write. The few times that I've had to not post I've felt so guilty about not being able to post. I know that I shouldn't, because that's a sign of being busy, which gives me that much more to write about, but I still feel like I let my readers down when I'm not able to post.

  4. I sometimes contemplate what kind of blogger I am and I am not sure if I should be considered "healthy living" or not. I do eat healthy, but like you, no overnight oats, paleo, or any of that jazz for me. I just live my life and share it on my blog!

  5. Thank you so much for doing this, I really enjoyed learning a bit more about your blog! I love that there are two of you behind the blog and I can definitely tell the difference in the writing between the two of you! I wish I always had a few blog posts in the queue, I just can't seem to make that happen, so I just do it on the go! Have a great weekend!

  6. Thanks for the nomination! Will get my sharing post up soon. "We've never made overnight oats" - that made me giggle. :)

  7. Love your Friday Five post! I'm working on trying to stay ahead because I find myself constantly trying to stay caught up with my blogging. I think that my work differs from SOME others because I really love reading and that was the impetus for my blog; however, so much of my life is wrapped up in running, that I couldn't leave that out! So, I'm kind of a dual blogger - ha! I like to share my experiences with both things, so that really is why I write what I do; my process is lacking, as in there is not much process to it, but I'm very new to this!

  8. I really try to consistently post on my regular days but it's been difficult with my injury, which was the main reason for renaming my blog. Since I wasn't running, and I wanted to keep blogging, my life outside of running came through.

  9. what a fun little quiz - I'm an audience sharer. Which makes sense! I only blog 3x a week and dropped down to 2x in the summer. I love blogging but also want to have a little semblence of life outside of that!

  11. OK, I'm going to be the lone standout and say that I can't always tell who is writing - but then, I haven't known about your blog for all that long. That said, I do enjoy your takes on everything...running, traveling, even Disney!

  13. I wish I had a process on most things in my life... usually everything is 'in the spur of the moment' for me :)

  14. Well, now that I know that you've never made overnight oats, I guess I have to unfollow you (JUST KIDDING!!). Thanks for the nomination, I'm excited about writing up my own answers. You ladies are awesome!

  15. Interesting take on the Friday 5! I just started blogging about 5 months ago and I think I am finally finding my blogging style and personality. I've been having a lot of fun with it. I try to have a schedule of 3x per week too unless something comes up that I just have to share. Fun post!

  16. I write about what I do because it helps keep me focused and motivated on reaching my goals and reminds me daily why I started the journey of a healthier lifestyle. I hope that I can inspire others with it as well.

  17. I used to try and write/post M W F but when it felt forced, I went back to "blog when I have something to blog about" frequency. It's not ideal, I'd love to have more frequent content, but it is what it is!

  18. What a cool peek inside your "process"! I love reading more about how it works with more than one author!

  19. I do quite a few events in here and was thoroughly impressed. There were multiple levels in the same magnificent room overlooking the city.

  20. You two have a cute blog! I too had a partner but have seemed to have lost her so I am trying to adjust. My goal is to shoot for 3 posts per week!

  21. Love reading about other bloggers' writing processes! Thanks for sharing! :)

  22. I struggle with not only finding interesting things to write about, but with content in general. My blog is mostly a running blog, but after awhile, I just started writing about whatever I felt like writing about. I go through phases of regular blogging and being radio silent. Good post!

  23. Love reading about your process! I've been having a really hard time lately with getting content out on a regular basis. I've always tried to get three posts out per week, but I could count the amount of times I've actually achieved that on my fingers. I usually kind of post whatever strikes my fancy, so long as it's a least somewhat Disney-related (and, let's be real, it usually is!). I took the quiz as well- I guess I'm a Content Strategist! :)

  24. Y'all always have such great posts :0) I am so glad we found each others blogs! Thank you so much for the nomination!

  25. Great blog topic. We are a two - blogger operation as well. Our spin: a common love of Disney and starting over our married lives together making better and healthier choices. That of course started with signing up for a runDisney event --- and the rest... the Running Happily Ever After... well that is our own fitness fairytale.

  26. Cool post! I'm gonna talk about my process or lack there of.
I have a blog/editorial calendar that I don't use. I populate it with post ideas, but when it's time to write my post (usually the night before it's due) I write about whatever I'm feeling at the time. It's been working so far since I generally only post about once a week, but I've been feeling the need to post more often so I'm working on getting on a better schedule.
Oh, and my social media personality is: Content Strategist.
    Who knew? lol

  27. I loved reading this! Blogging is so much work, even with 2 people it's still a constant thing. I tell people it's my part time job of pleasure:
My blog is of things that interest me, but overall I try to promote what I enjoy which is being active and leading an active life, no matter if your a runner/hiker or walker. However, because I also think the mind is something that needs to be worked and used, I also throw in book reviews in mind. I don't call myself a health blogger, but healthy living I guess works, even then it's a tough thing to put a title on:)
Either way, I enjoy the blog you two put together!!!! You guys do a great job, and I haven't been bored yet:)

  28. Great idea for your Friday Five! :) I'm still new to the blogging thing, so I usually post M, T, and F, with some extras on W or TR if I have a race recap. It can be hard to find the time to write about everything I'd like, so I generally just write notes on ideas I have, and hope to find time to write about it eventually. My posts aren't very interesting haha, but they are nice for me to be able to track my goals/progress and stay accountable.
