Boston Marathon Trial and One Lucky Spectator Gets Modeling Contract

Another late installment today since we didn't have power again last night for a good few hours!

Are you keeping up with the Boston Marathon trial that started this week? The first trial started on Monday with one of the supposed friends of the suspects, Azamat Tazhayakov.  Apparently Tazhayakov is facing charges such as Obstruction of Justice for allegedly removing the backpack and other evidence from the suspect's dorm room after the attack on Marathon Monday in an effort to protect their friend.  There was another friend involved trying to remove evidence as well. If they are found guilty, they could face up to 20 years in Prison. I think everyone involved in this situation needs to serve some serious time. Since most of you know that my sister Lacey ran the Boston Marathon in 2013 ( and was receiving her medal and post race refreshments when the explosions happened), it has intrigued me to stay inform on what is happening with the trial and what not.

Well, how about some happier news!
Did you here about that lucky fan who was watching the World Cup and then got a modeling contract?
Axelle Despiegelaere, a 17 year old from Belgium, who was watching one of the matches when a photographer started snapping pictures of her and they went viral! A few days later she received a modeling contract and is now doing work with L'Oreal! World Cup =Good Luck!

Okay, that's all for now for my Thursday of Thinking Out Loud.

What world news happenings have you been following this week?

Don't forget about the GIVEAWAY we have going on and the CHOCOLATE MILK CONTEST with Rodale Press!

  1. They made their choices, now they have to face the consequences, and I hope the punishments matches the crime. I had friends spectating at the finish line that day. Thankfully they weren't hurt but were shaken up by the whole thing.

    1. Yes, I think anyone who was there that day or knew someone who was there or who was running would be shook up as well.

  2. It's been on the news a lot here about the trail. I agree that they all deserve to be found guilty and tried to the full extent of the law! That is really cool about the young girl getting a modeling contract, I hadn't heard about that!

  3. They definitely deserve some serious time in prison. The punishment should match the crime 100%.

I didn't hear about the girl with the modeling contract...that is a fun story!

  4. There's something really fishy about that trial/investigation I think. I was listening to an NPR show about it. I hope all guilty parties get what they have coming to them!

Amazing story about the modeling contract. She's a pretty girl, but wouldn't there have been 1000's of pretty girls? I wonder why they chose her...how could they tell from that one photo? Talk about lucky!!

    1. From the news story it sounded like the photography ( probably a man) took lots of pictures of her. She must have caught his eye as she was all decked out in her team colors!

    2. Definitely her lucky day then and great choice of outfit! :)

  5. I haven't been following the trial, but I do believe all who were involved deserve whatever they get, as long as it's a harsh sentence! I know a lot of people are not in favor of death penalties anymore, but I don't care to be the unpopular one and say that it should be a given in situations like this. No sense in tax payers having to pay for them to spend the rest their lives in prison, when innocent lives were taken! - in my opinion -

Pretty cool about the modeling contract, just goes to show you never know who is looking! And social media can make or break a new star over night:)

  6. So glad those guys will finally get their due. Serving time in jail is minor compared to what they did. The story about the modeling contract is pretty amazing. Being in the right place at the right time certainly helped that girl!

  7. I didn't even know the trials had started! I tend to not notice anything on the news unless its entertainment or weather. I need to start being aware.

  8. I didn't hear about the girl who got the modeling contract, so cool! If only something magical like that could happen to me haha (in my dreams!)

I really hope those guys get what they deserve.
