Epcot's After Hours Party

When I was planning my Disney wedding, it was not unusual for the brides to have something called a Dessert party on the days leading up to the wedding, or even sometime afterwards.  These brides would have an area of Epcot roped of just for them and their guests. It was usually somewhere around the Lagoon so they would have a great view of Illuminations while being served delectable treats. As much as I love cupcakes, I did not have one of those Dessert Parties, although I always thought it would be pretty cool to have a portion of Epcot dedicated just to you and your guests. It sounded so exclusive!

Now Disney has announced a new After Hours Wind Down Party.  The party will begin after Illuminations and last till 11pm.  It will take place in several of the lounges around World showcase, so you'll have your pick of where you want to relax and unwind for the evening.

Will it be La Cava del Tequila in Mexico or Rose & Crown Pub in United Kingdom? How about Spice Road Table in Morocco or Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar in Italy?   It will be a tough choice, but your ticket only gives you exclusive access to one of them.

Once you are inside the lounge of your choice, you will be treated to cuisine created by award winning Epcot Chefs and Sommeliers.  The menu will include small bites paired with beverage flights.  I'm not sure how "small" they are because it is noted that additional beverages will be available for purchase.

These wind down parties will take place Thursdays through Sundays only from now until September 15. The cost is $35.  I'm not sure what this would be like, but I think I'd be willing to give it a try once

Have you ever been to an exclusive event at Disney?  What was it?

    1. Yea, too bad it's for a limited time. Maybe it's just a test program for the summer!

  2. That sounds like a fun party, but unfortunately, I am ready for bed after Illuminations! I will be anxious to hear about it once someone does a review...hint hint!

    1. Sadly I am right there with you as far as being ready for bed when Illuminations is over. During race weekends, we don't even make it to illuminations! But, if we were going to make a trip to wdw over the summer, we would like to check this out!

  3. My parents had a dessert party the Marathon Weekend on Ice. Tons of people were there after running the races and they had such a good time. Normally I'm tired after Illuminations since I've been in the parks all day long.

    1. That sounds like a nice time. How did they get to do that? Did they host the party themselves or was it something they bought a ticket too?

    2. They hosted and sadly I couldn't go to WDW that year. I had to stay in Texas to work :(

  4. I read a couple reviews of these and all the ones I've seen so far have been positive. The reviewers really seemed to enjoy the events and felt like they were worth the $35. It seems like a great potential add on to a trip.

    2. Here's a review of the Mexico and Morocco options http://blog.touringplans.com/2014/04/25/epcot-after-hours-wind-down-review-la-cava-morocco/. I know I saw a review of the Italy option somewhere but now I can't find it :( I haven't read anything about the UK option yet.

  12. A Disney wedding sounds divine. What great memories/photos you must have! The After Hours Party sounds fun! Though I have to admit, last time I was at WDW, I was ready to crash by 9 most nights after spending all day and night in the parks haha.
