Disney's Enchanted 10K: Where the skirt doesn't matter.

After taking it easy for the 5k and stopping for pictures, the 10k was just as enjoyable. It started almost an hour earlier so stopping for pictures wasn't as easy since it was still dark out when we started.
My favorite thing about the race was running it with my sister! Other than the other Disney family 5k races we've run in the past, this would be our first race running together side by side. My sister was very excited to run this race together since we were going to run in coordinating outfits, me as Belle and her as Sleeping Beauty.
Unfortunately SOMEONE forgot part of her outfit! Yes, My sister forgot her pink skirt ( that was just like mine but was pink) You may have remembered seeing it HERE. I know she was pretty upset about this since she worked so hard putting these outfits together for us.  Fortunately I ended up having an extra pink running skirt that she was able to use. It wasn't as fluffy and sparkly as the one she had planned on running in, but it worked.  So we were not quite as matching as we had planned.

The first part of the race was on the highway. The first piece of Disney Magic we encountered was I Elsa from Frozen up above the overpass. As we ran on that portion of the highway it magically started to snow ( and to think we came to Florida to get away from snow)! It was pretty cool though unless you got some of it in your eyes like we did.
There were a few character stops during the first half. I remember seeing The White Rabbit,  A Character I thought was an ant ( I wasn't sure because it was too dark out ), and Toy Soldiers.  Then before we headed into the Epcot area we spotted this motivating sign.

Since it was still dark out when we passed the 5K mark it is really hard to read, but it was a flashing sign that said "Enchanted 10K" and "Almost Finished".

Next it was our journey through Epcot, out the international gateway, and on to the boardwalk.
A somewhat blurry picture of Meranda running on the boardwalk.

This was probably our favorite part of the run. Some of our favorite runs have been on boardwalks ( VA Beach and NJ)!  Then we looped around the resort area of the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club and Beach Club. It was great to finally have some crowd support in these areas!

We entered Epcot back through the International gateway again and through future world.

During the race we did try to take some pictures even though it was dark.. It wasn't until we were almost finished that the sun was rising so we stopped and got a pic with Donald Duck.

Even though this was the same course that was for the 10k over the Dopey weekend, I didn't run that race, so it was new to me. We were familiar with the course because it was a similar course from the 5k the day before. We knew when we were approaching the finish, so that's when we crossed the finish line hand in hand for our first 10k together!

And we did it. Our first Disney 10K!

I think we both agreed that this race is a must do again! We liked the course and the medals are just beautiful! Probably the nicest 10K medal we've ever earned!

After receiving our medals we opted for the obligatory Princess pictures!

We waited in line for Belle and then when we got up there she left and Ariel came out. honestly, we didn't even know she was Ariel. She didn't look like the Ariel we remembered.  Maybe she was Ariel's understudy! What do you think?
The handler said Belle would be back out in 25 minutes, so we got back in line again and hoped by the time it was our turn again the characters would have made their switch. It was funny to see other runner's dressed as belle opting to not get pictures with Ariel, but waiting for Belle as well.
The race was so perfect running with my sister and just having fun along the way. In the end, it didn't really matter that she didn't have the "right" skirt!
Have you ever ran the 10K distance? If so, which one was your favorite?
Have you ever forgotten part of your race outfit?

Up Next, Meranda's version of the Half Marathon!

  1. SO CUTE! Love the photo of you two crossing the finish line together! A drawback of the early race starts is dark photos...we found the same thing during the Minnie 10k in January. -Christine

  2. I did not stop for any photos since I was racing the 10k. Your Donald photo is adorable and the ones of you at the end of the race are fantastic and definitely frame worthy. Congrats on a great race! - Pam

    1. I don't know if it was really worth stopping for pictures during this race since it was so dark anyway, but glad to have had a few good ones!

  4. It's funny, Belle doesn't quite look like Belle either. I've never seen those costumes before either.

  5. This race looks like so much fun! I love the photo of y'all crossing the finish line together!

Also, I'm glad you said something about Ariel's outfit. She never wears a green dress like that in the movie! She could wear that pink dress she wore for dinner with Eric, or even (my personal favorite) the blue/black one from her and Eric's outing on the town!

    1. So funny that you mentioned the dress! I'm glad we weren't the only ones that thought she wasn't quite "Ariel-ish"!

  7. My first Disney race, our costumes were the 3 caballeros and I forgot our sombreros on the plane! Thank goodness for Mexico ;)

I totally agree about Arial. That's exactly why I'm not usually a fan of getting pictures with Princesses.

  9. Such a great recap, and you ladies look fabulous! You got some great pictures. It was definitely a run race -- I liked your comment about going to Florida to escape the snow, I was thinking the same thing! But the Elsa appearance was definitely a highlight of the race for me! :)

    1. I read on another blog that the snow was actually soap. I guess that would be why it didn't feel good when it got in my eyes!

    1. Thanks Julie! I thought maybe it was Jiminy after I read your recaps. But I remember her talking about the "Ant" BEFORE we headed into Epcot and in your picture it looked like Jiminy was in Epcot. I wonder if he moved once the sun came up????
