Fitness Friday: Workouts and a WINNER

I'm linking up this Friday Five with Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC and the theme this week was five days of work outs (with pictures). Since I have been having some unfortunate leg issues, my workouts haven't been great! But in any case, here are 5 workouts I've done since last week.

1. I did get a strong 5 mile run in over the weekend. It was COLD!

2. I did LOTS of Foam Rolling!

I find it funny that every time I have the foam roller out. I always find Baylee taking control of it.

I snuck up on her the other day and found this!

3. Stretches from my Chiropractor to help with the IT Band.

4. I did go for a 3.1 mile run yesterday to see how my leg/knee would react. It wasn't good, but I got it done and wasn't in too much pain. I could still feel the tightness but it was more tolerable than it had been the last few days!

Although I went to the Chiropractor for ART on Wednesday, he would not perform it because he said it would hurt me WAY too much at this point. He sent me home with some stretches ( to hopefully release some of the tightness). He set me up to come back today to see how much it has released and see what my next step is. I have learned SO much from this Dr. already that I will be sure to post what I have learned next week so it hopefully helps someone else.

5. And in case you are wondering about Lacey's workouts this week, well lets just say this picture says it all. Snow on the boardwalk in Virginia Beach!

Oh, and guess what? We have a winner for our cool Yoga products!  This makes me happy to announce because one lucky person will have a fabulous Yoga bag with gear, but it also makes me a bit sad because I know so many of you were hoping to win this great gear. But guess what, we have another giveaway coming up after PHM that is just as great ( Believe me)!

A HUGE Thank You to everyone who entered this giveaway!

  1. Good luck with your recovery Meranda. You still have time to be feeling great for the Princess races. I love the photo of the oceanfront in Virginia Beach....we lived there (VB) for 7 years and never had a snowstorm like that!

    1. While many people are starting to taper for PHM, I feel like I won't be. I'll be trying to work up my mileage from all the runs i've missed this month due to my pain! Isn't that snow on the beach crazy?

  2. Congrats to the winner! I am in the same boat, spending lots of time with my foam roller and stretching. I have a date with the treamill this morning, we'll see how that goes. Baylee is too cute, my boxer is interested in the roller, he looks confused when I get on the floor. :p

  3. Glad you got your foam roller Karen! Every time I get my mat out, Baylee has got to lay on it and she seems to love the foam roller! Surprisingly she has never tried to chew it!

  4. Your dog is so cute... Just as long as there are no teeth involved in the use of the foam roller!

  13. That is so cute, your puppy is trying to get his IT band stretched out too! My 3 year old always wants to foam roll and use "The Stick" when I do. And it's extra fun when he climbs on top of me while I'm foam rolling (ouch!). And WOW that's a lot of snow!

    1. He did not say, but said I could continue to run as long as I could. He suggested doing 2-3 miles a day. I'll continue to do that until I see him again! Thanks for your concern Lauren!

  16. When I first went to my PT, he did do ART, but he asked if I bruise easily. I don't, but I had some impressive bruises for a while.

    1. Ouch! I just started to notice some slight bruising. Don't know if it's from the foam roller or not!

  17. Haha! I love the picture of your dog and the foam roller -- too funny! My workouts have also been lacking a bit due to the weather, I'll tell you that much -- I still try to get out there and get those miles in, but I have to say, I'm SO over all this ice and snow!

    1. Yea, I won't even go out if I think it might be icy! That could be an accident waiting to happen!

  23. I hope you will heal quickly and that all those stretches are working!!!
Sad that I am not the winner but I won another giveaway! :)

And in response to your comment on my blog - we have a lot of DDs in our area. There was a bakery attached to a specific one and they would make all the donuts. Then they would drop them off in the morning and afternoon. We make our own bagels though :)

  24. So glad the Chiro is helping you!! The stretch pictured is one my PT's taught me too! Best of luck...hope it continues to feel better! I'm glad it didn't bother you too much on the 3 mile run, that's a good thing!!

  25. I think I mentioned this before already but we have the same shoes! I can totally understand the frustration! I hope the stretches work!! I still have a very tender left calf, but even worse is my quality of sleep the last few nights has been AWFUL! In some ways I can't wait till this is over so I can hopefully get some sleep and also get rid of a few of these injuries! Isn't running supposed to be healthy?!?! lol!
